| 1. Saga of the Swamp Thing, Book 1 |
|
By: Alan Moore Publisher: Vertigo February 10, 2009
This book reprints issues #20 - 27. The first story-arc ends with issue #24. This book LEAVES OUT THE LAST FOUR WORDS OF THAT STORY! The story ends with a full-page picture of Swamp Thing with arms outstretched, head titled up toward the sky, with the sun setting behind him. In the original comic book, and the first paperback reproduction, the upper left-hand corner of the page has the words... more

| 2. Saga of the Swamp Thing: Volume 1 |
|
By: Alan Moore Publisher: DC Comics, Inc. February 23, 1998
Back in the 80s, I was a avid reader of superhero comics like X-Men, Daredevil, ect. Those were some great titles, but because of my devotion to superhero genre, I dismissed the concept of a "swamp thing." A mass of dirt and moss shaped like a man... seriously now, what the hell?
20 years later I picked up Saga of Swamp Thing Volumes 1-2 and was blown away. Volume 1 starts out a little... more

By: Alan Moore Publisher: Vertigo December 01, 2009
Im guessing that anybody interested in this hardcover and reading this is: A) A fan of Alan Moore B) A fan of Swamp Thing C) An extremely fortunate soul who's about to read one of the best runs in comic nook history This volume covers SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING #28-34 and SWAMP THING ANNUAL #2, in my opinion Moore's best arch. Liberated from the Comics Code, this title really... more

| 5. Swamp Thing Vol. 2: Love and Death |
|
By: Alan Moore Publisher: Vertigo April 01, 1995
Pretty sweet, Alan Moore's run of Swamp Thing was sweet. I highly recommend to comic lovers. Because it really seems like Moores arch on SwampThing is overlooked or forgotten about. But its great ... more

| 6. Swamp Thing Vol. 3: The Curse |
|
By: Alan Moore Publisher: Vertigo December 01, 2000
This volume broke out of a set path and reminds me of X-Files season one. Nuke Face was a surprisingly likable character, but nuclear power was presented pretty harshly. John Constatine came off as a much better character in my opinion than once he got his own series. Swamp Thing's new powers such as transportation via new body and seasonal changes were pretty neat.
The vampire substory... more

| 7. Swamp Thing Vol. 4: A Murder of Crows |
|
By: Alan Moore Publisher: Vertigo August 01, 2001
I said Swamp Thing was a great book, but point is, this volume is so well written it surpasses many comics, books or movies. First time I see something as glamorous and as meaningful as Lord of the Rings. I really was speechless at the end of reading. End might be predictable, but it IS meaningful.
People, stop reading reviews and get all six books. Read them slowly and digest them slowly!... more

| 8. Swamp Thing Vol. 6: Reunion |
|
By: Alan Moore Publisher: Vertigo August 01, 2003
This is last collection you need to have Alan Moore's Swamp Thing. The story about sentient technological organism is one of best SF stories I have read, but for me, opening story with Adam Strange was too strange :) since I don't know much of DC mainstream, Therefore only four stars... more

| 9. Swamp Thing Vol. 5: Earth to Earth |
|
By: Alan Moore Publisher: Vertigo April 01, 2002
This volume of Swamp Thing comics takes a bit of a different turn. Abby is basically brought up on obscenity charges for a relationship with a vegetable.
I think there would be quite a few people in trouble if this is actually a crime.
Batman, of all people, intervenes in the case.

| 10. Roots of the Swamp Thing (DC Comics Classics Library) |
|
By: Len Wein Publisher: DC Comics June 02, 2009
This is what comic books are and (sadly, today) what they used to be. Berni Wrightson's artwork is incomparable; he, more than Wein even, is the true creator of the Swamp Thing image that all classic comic book fans know and love. Swamp Thing is a great character who works splendidly on a visual level but never seems to get the treatment that he deserves. This collection comes as close as anything... more
