Oh, well, here it is then, the bad apple in the barrel. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, publishing thrice a month, has enjoyed a run of really good stories, but then someone went and slipped Marc Guggenheim a sip of stupid juice. This trade, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: RETURN OF THE BLACK CAT, collects AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #606-611 and the "Kaine of Echoes" story from WEB OF SPIDER-MAN #1. The book-end issues aren't... more

|
By: Fred Van Lente, Brian Reed Publisher: Marvel Comics January 06, 2010
This slim hardcover collects Amazing Spider-Man issues #602-605 that were originally published by Marvel Comics in 2009. Written by Fred Van Lente and penciled by Barry Kitson, #602-604 completes the "Red Headed Stranger" story arc that started in #601. The plot centers on the sinister return of classic villain The Chameleon, who is much darker than in previous treatments. Peter Parker pursues a... more

By: Fred Van Lente, Dan Slott, Mark Waid Publisher: Marvel Comics March 10, 2010
There is one or two good stories here but whenever fantastic four was involved, it seemed like the writers just went through the motions. Human Torch was basically a douche throughout the whole story, whining about not knowing Spider-man's identity anymore to the point of willing to actually burn his mask off and put a battle that they're in on hold... more

|
By: Dan Slott, Fred Van Lente, Mark Waid Publisher: Marvel Comics March 17, 2010
Spidey enters the gauntlet in this first hardcover. The book starts off with the Dark Reign: the list one shot. Which I thought was the second best one behind only Daredevils's. It doesn't really add anything too the gauntlet storyline but it is a nice inclusion. Next is a short story adding too Electro's origin and after that 3 issues for the Electro storyline take place. I really like the story by... more

| 7. Spider-Man: American Son |
|
By: Joe Kelly Publisher: Marvel Comics March 31, 2010
For Peter Parker, the beat goes on. Meaning that it's not a normal Peter Parker day unless it's a craaaappy Peter Parker day. Forget that Peter's made a deal with Old Scratch and so had his life with Mary Jane wiped away as if it never happened. Forget that his recent roommate turned out to be part of a police conspiracy to frame him. Forget that he's just walked into his Aunt May naked and getting... more
