I have not owned other Photoshop software before, so I cannot speak to how it compares or upgrades. I am what you might call an "enthusiastic amateur": I take a lot of pictures and do some basic editing and fixing, but am not a professional or anything close.
I found the Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 fairly intuitive to install and use. I have heard that the full Photoshop is too complicated... more

This product is great. And with the ability to manipulate RAW files, its usefulness is complete. It has more power than 98% of the people out there will ever need. But if you need it, it's there. Frankly I can't imagine why anyone would get CS4 with this program available. The added function of CS4 will be unused by all but the most serious and intense users.

I purchased this bundle a couple of months age to run on a windows xp 32 bit machine and it was awful. I was able to edit videos in premiere for the most part. It would crash from time to time but I wouldn't say it made the software unusable (at least not on my machine). I recently built a new machine running a quad core cpu, windows 7 ultimate 64bit, 4GB of DDR3 RAM (soon to be 8GB), Gigabyte motherboard... more

Don't confuse Lightroom with the full blown Photoshop.

This product is great, and was so easy to install! A few people mentioned difficulties with getting the serial number, but I had no problem at all. I received the serial number in my email the day after I submitted my student id and info. So if you follow the insturctions and have a valid id, there isn't much to worry about. I spent a lot of time looking for the right software with the right features for my project: creating music videos of/for my 8 year old son who can play several instruments. No matter where I turned, Adobe Premiere Elements 8 (aka APE8) rose to the top as the best PC based software, and it was also fairly priced by my standards. For me, two critical tools had to be present to fit my needs:
