I had not planned on purchasing SPIDER-MAN VISIONARIES: ROGER STERN VOLUME 1 when it was released; however, when the book I did purchase turned out to be such a turkey, I immediately returned to the store to buy it. The result was a very happy reader. I can't figure out what inspired Marvel to release this book, but I'm glad they did, as I really enjoyed these fun Spidey stories. Although hampered... more

| | 4. Fantastic Four Visionaries - John Byrne, Vol. 8 |
| By: John Byrne, Roger Stern, Jerry Ordway By: John Byrne Publisher: Marvel Comics January 02, 2008
This is actually one of my favorite editions in this series, right along with volumes 4 & 5. I'm a *huge* fan of anything Byrne did in '85-'86, which includes his 6+1 issue run on the Incredible Hulk, his covers for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition, his final issues of Alpha Flight & Fantastic Four, and of course his work on a certain Man of Steel.

I am a big Dracula fan. If you've read many of my reviews you know I own tons of Dracula books. Of all the incarnations of Bram Stoker's great creation, the Marvel Comics adaptation is my favorite. This trade paper back collects multiple issues of Tomb of Dracula and Dr. Strange featuring the interplay between the two.
Dr. Strange finds the mystical Darkhold book and discovers the origins... more

| | 6. Guardians of the Galaxy: The Power of Starhawk |
| By: Steve Gerber, Roger Stern, Mary Skrenes, Stan Lee Publisher: Marvel Comics August 12, 2009
...with mixed success.
This 190 page, 7"x10-1/2" hardcover, reprints the 10 issue tryout the Guardians had in Marvel Presents #3-12. Hitherto, the Guardians had been riding the coattails of the more established Marvel heroes, particularly the Defenders. Those stories were reproduced in the previous volume "Earth Shall Overcome".
There are two major story arcs. The first is... more

Early graphic novel, only so so, but an obviously intriguing team-up. Doctor Doom of course has mystical bits lurking in his origin and background, and this is a meeting of two strong and idiosyncratic egos. ... more
