This was a really fun book. I love Neil Gaimen and even though this is clearly a kid's book and I may be a bit old for it, I loved it anyway!... more

| 2. Odd and the Frost Giants |
|
By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: HarperCollins September 22, 2009
Love Gaiman, but this one suffers from an absolute lack of drama. Sure, it's for kids, but at no point do we think Odd won't complete his quest. That said, the writing is comfortably brilliant as always, and the characters feel like old friends (as they are from his other novels). ... more

| 3. Stardust |
|
By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: HarperTeen December 23, 2008
This book had many differences from the movie that I saw a few years ago, which allows me to appreciate both the book and the movie as two distinct works. I found the plotline of the book to be much more subdued in comparison to the movie. The love between the star and Tristan was not nearly as passionate, nor Victoria Forester quite so much of a snob. The ghosts of the Stormhold brothers were not... more

| 4. The Sandman Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes |
|
By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: Vertigo December 07, 1993
Gaiman's Sandman series is widely considered one of the finest achievements in the graphic novel medium, but does it live up to all the hype? In this opening volume, a mortal who intends to capture Death accidentally snags her sibling Dream instead and winds up keeping him prisoner for decades. Finally escaping, Dream sets about reclaiming his lost talismans so he can rebuild his kingdom, which has... more

By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: HarperCollins April 29, 2008
Well, there's not much to say about this book. It's another A,B,C book, and it isn't really much better or worse than any other.Honestly,it's not one of Neil Gaimen's best stories. To me,it reads allot like a rough draft and it soley got published just because of the author being "Neil Gaimen".It was just fast bucks/easy money for Mr. Gaimen. Then again, that's just me...I could be wrong? What saves this... more

| 7. The Facts In The Case Of The Departure Of Miss Finch |
|
By: Neil Gaiman, Michael Zulli Publisher: Dark Horse October 10, 2007
Well, I don't know why, but Neil Gaiman always surprises me. I know he is a genius, and I love his work, and everytime I read something of his I am surprised by his witicism and inteligence. All I can say is that this book was no exception! I really loved it, an amazingly well told story of a woman who gets her wishes fulfilled in a most peculiar way. Really escellent and I highly recommend it... more

I love both of these authors. It's a very good book but I think I must have just expected too much. Their work in separate is just so much better. ... more

| 9. Fragile Things: Short Fictions and Wonders |
|
By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: Harper February 09, 2010
I am a long-time fan of Mr. Gaiman's writing but this is a compilation of stories where the best ones are already in another anthology and so many of the others are just not worthy of his abilities. Unfortunately, as many writers reach great popularity, there seems to be a rush to print anything because it will sell. I just hope many of his newly-reached young readers don't pick up this one... more

| 10. Blueberry Girl |
|
By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: HarperCollins March 10, 2009
I do not expect that this will be a "helpful review," being, as it is, more a tribute to a person than to the book. So be it.
This book was given to me and my daughter, collectively, by my best friend--the man who, being a long-time Gaiman fan in all media, introduced me to the pleasures of reading Gaiman's novels. I had taken him, as a surprise, to Neil Gaiman's reading and signing in... more
