| 1. Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus, Vol. 1 |
|
By: Jack Kirby Publisher: DC Comics May 02, 2007
DC is to be commended for collecting Jack Kirby's "Fourth World" series in a colored edition though the price seems a bit high. The controversy about the paper quality has been dealt with in enough reviews and will not be touched upon in this review. The first volume of the "Fourth World" omnibus collects the first issues that Kirby produced of "The New Gods", "Mr. Miracle", "The Forever People" and... more

| 4. Jack Kirby's The Demon |
|
By: Jack Kirby Publisher: DC Comics November 25, 2008
I never cared much for the Demon before I read this Omnibus and now I know why: I hadn't read Jack Kirby's Demon. And don't fear the newsprint--it looks and smells great, and just makes these stories all the more fun... more

| 5. Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus, Vol. 2 |
|
By: Jack Kirby Publisher: DC Comics August 08, 2007
This second volume of "Jack Kirby's Fourth World" is a better read than the first one and shows how Jack Kirby continued to expand his epic vision that would revolutionize comic books. This volume continues running issues of "Jimmy Olson", "The Forever People", "The New Gods" and "Mr. Miracle." The art is spectacular and Kirby's writing has improved from the start issues in the first volume... more

| 6. Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus, Vol. 4 |
|
By: Jack Kirby By: Jack Kirby Publisher: DC Comics March 26, 2008
This fourth and last volume of "Jack Kirby's Fourth World" is a melancholy conclusion to a wonderful series. "New Gods" and "Forever People" both had the plugs pulled on them while "Mr. Miracle" limped to a conclusion through a number of more conventional superhero story lines. At least "Forever People" had a conclusion which is more than one can say about the end of "New Gods." The end of "Mr. Miracle"... more

| 7. The Best of Simon and Kirby |
|
By: Joe Simon, Jack Kirby Publisher: Titan Books May 12, 2009
What else is there to say? The Best of Simon & Kirby is simply the best of the best.
The stories are exciting, the artwork lovingly and properly restored. Compare the Sandman story to the lackluster production on the recent DC volume reprinting the same and the difference will make your eyes pop out.
Please understand, the volume is really a sampler, a taste of the work... more

| 8. The Losers |
|
By: Jack Kirby Publisher: DC Comics March 17, 2009
Sorry, but this disappointed me. I was given this as a gift and was excited to have the Losers back in my hands again until I realized it was Jack Kirby. The Losers was one of my favorite comics and I stopped buying it once Kirby took over. Compared to artists like Sam Glanzman, Russ Heath, John Severin and Joe Kubert who did the artwork in earlier issues, Kirby's version of the characters to me were... more

| 9. Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus, Vol. 3 |
|
By: Jack Kirby, Mike Royer By: Jack Kirby Publisher: DC Comics November 07, 2007
This third volume of "Jack Kirby's Fourth World" stands as the best work Kirby did as he tried to portray his epic vision of worlds in conflict. Kirby's closing issues from his tenure on the "Jimmy Olson" line are included here and they include his finest work in that series. However the heart of this book, indeed the very heart of the "Fourth World" vision can be found in "New Gods", especially the... more

| 10. The Eternals, Book 2 |
|
By: Jack Kirby By: Jack Kirby Publisher: Marvel Comics October 08, 2008
The Eternals was probably for Kirby one of the major projects he worked on at Marvel after returning there from DC. In some ways, it was an attempt at duplicating the 'cosmic saga' such as had been done with the "Fourth World" titles at DC. But somehow it just doesn't match.
Oh, its a great series, but it ended before Jack could take it to its conclusion. Instead of having 4 series... more
