| 1. Doom Patrol, Book 1: Crawling From the Wreckage |
|
By: Grant Morrison Publisher: Vertigo April 17, 2000
This is where Grant Morrison started writing Doom Patrol and this graphic novel can be compared to even best Moore's works, Gaiman's best Sandman, or even Maxx, storywise. If you are not easily offended by religious themes or too squeamish , get it! Get all of them. I must say, Doom Patrol by Grant Morison has ups and downs but get this one at least! It's worth all the money! more

| 2. Doom Patrol, Book 2: The Painting That Ate Paris |
|
By: Grant Morrison Publisher: Vertigo October 01, 2004
I bought the first of Grant Morrison's run, and it was decent. So I gave this a shot. The Painting That Ate Paris is interesting, and has a guest appearance by some of the great Justice League International cast. But other than that, and the last issue with Monsieur Mallah and the Brain, I just couldn't get into the book. It feels like Morrison was trying to show how much literature he's read... more

By: Grant Morrison, Richard Case Publisher: Vertigo January 16, 2008
After reading most of the volumes in Grant Morrison's run on Doom Patrol (haven't read vol. 2 yet :(, I finally got to experience the end. And it was amazing. I've never read a "touching" Grant Morrison story that gave me the chills. And then I come to find that that story is in Doom Patrol. His title that made me feel sick, disoriented, confused, and shocked throughout.
But what do you... more

By: Arnold Drake Publisher: DC Comics April 14, 2009
Doom Patrol is one of the super teams that I was visually familiar with, but other than an entry in a Who's Who comic (DC's version of the Marvel Handbook) I knew little about the characters. Unlike other 60s DC books, DP has characters that display personality; compare that to the early Justice League, whose characters are almost interchangeable. Additionally, the villains are interesting and weird... more

By: Grant Morrison Publisher: Vertigo January 31, 2007
This series is as random as random gets--and this collection continues that tradition. While it is enjoyable and as insane as the rest of the series, and takes time to continue or wrap up plot points that were created in previous installments, it seems a little too fast paced, almost as if trying to rush through a ton of ideas that Morrison has but no space for him to get it down. But if you've gotten... more

| 9. The Doom Patrol Archives, Vol. 1 (DC Archive Editions) |
|
By: Arnold Drake Publisher: DC Comics April 01, 2002
deserves the big screen treatment. Far more interesting than the X-Men, this is the story about a group of people who become superheroes through no fault of their own (its the result of machinations from somebody, but you'll have to read the series to find out), and how they deal with being "different". Negative Man, Robotman and Elastigirl are three of the most tragic figures ever to grace the comic... more

By: Arnold Drake Publisher: DC Comics August 05, 2008
The Doom Patrol was a excellent comic book that had a great family like team including beast boy who later became the changeling in the new team titans. The stories were prime 1960's superhero fiction and the art was always very good. Sadly the series was facing cancellation and so the team was destroyed. ( you'll have to read the book to find out how) and this volume has that ending. In later... more
