| | 4. Batman: The Greatest Stories Ever Told, Vol. 2 |
| By: Brian Michael Bendis, Bob Kane, Bill Finger, Roy Thomas Publisher: DC Comics February 14, 2007
For my money, DC's revamping of the "Greatest Stories" line has still fallen well off the mark set by the 1980s/90s editions. That said, this volume actually stands up fairly well. While I certainly enjoyed some more than others, I won't dwell on the merits of the stories chosen for inclusion versus other candidates (with one exception which I'll get to later). I think that the nature of this kind... more

| By: Bob Kane, Bill Finger, Gardner Fox, Dennis O'Neil, Elliot Maggin, Gerry Conway, Mike Barr, Peter Milligan, Devin Grayson Publisher: DC Comics May 01, 2005
It's been pointed out that some of the stories here are somewhat (sometimes very) weak, and I have to agree with that. However, if you don't like Scarecrow, why the hell would you buy a book starring him? I like even the bad stories here because they all show various sides to the Scarecrow, from criminal mastermind, to legend, to second fiddle who can't always keep up with the plans of others, to the... more

The "Cronicles" series of volumes, with stories in order and in color are a great low-cost way to collect the old DC characters' publications from the 30s, 40s, and 50s - future releases presumed... more

| | 9. Batman: The Greatest Stories Ever Told, Vol. 1 |
| By: Bob Kane, Bill Finger Publisher: DC Comics May 01, 2005
I got this book because it has one of my favorite stories in it: "Robin Dies at Dawn". Overall, the book shows how Batman has changed throughout the years, from 1939 to the present day. In one story there is a scene showing the murder of Thomas and Martha wayne from young Bruce's perspective.. literally. It is a must-see for all Bat-Fans. However, I wouldn't recomend this book for young kids: It's... more

WARNING: SPOILERS THROUGHOUT!!!
"Batman Chronicles, Vol. 3" is the third in what is currently (that I own/know of) an eight part collector's series that compiles "... all the `Batman' stories in the exact order they were published" (taken from the black bar at the top of the front cover). Inside are comics, which in their original trade paperback (TPB) form... more
