When TOT went on hiatus last month, it was to make life easier for yours truly, who is writing a book on comics that might just be the ultimate "Tony's Tips" column, and for our wondrous web-wizard Justin, who was finishing up some freelance work before leaving for San Diego and Comic-Con International. I had hoped to complete the hardest and most time-intensive portions of my book before the end of July. That didn't work out.
TOT is back and it's not back.
For the next couple weeks - and I'm hoping it will just be the next couple weeks - I'll be presenting reprints from a variety of sources. From the "Tony's Other Online Tips" reviews I write for the Comics Buyer's Guide forums, from CBG itself, and from a few other places. There will be some new material included with the reprints, but there probably won't be a lot of it. When you read my new book, I think you'll agree the reprints were a fair trade-off for my being able to finish it.
Thanks for your support and understanding.
The Tony Polls questions posted in mid-July are still active and will remain so until sometime in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 5. In them, we asked you to vote on some of the most pressing issues of the day.
Would you like to see a change in editorial direction and management at DC Comics?
Would you like to see a change in editorial direction and management at Marvel Comics?
Which of these companies would you most like to see knock Marvel or DC out of the two top spots?
Finally, the most important question of all:
Which of these choices would you most like to see be the next job for Tony Isabella?
ZERO: Burn your money before buying any comic receiving this rating. It doesn't *necessarily* mean there's absolutely nothing of value here - though it *could* - but whatever value it might possess shrinks into insignificance before its overall awfulness.
ONE: Buy something else. Maybe I found something which wasn't completely dreadful in the item, but not enough for me to recommend it when there are better comics available. I only want what's best for you, my children.
TWO: Basic judgment call. I found some value, but not enough to recommend it. My review should give you enough info to decide if you want to take a chance on it. Are you feeling lucky today, punk? Well, are you?
THREE: This denotes something I find perfectly respectable. There are better books out there, but I wouldn't regret buying this item. Based on my review, you should be able to determine if it's of interest to you. Let the Force guide you.
FOUR: I recommend anything earning this rating. Unless you don't like the genre, subject matter, or past work of the creators, I believe you'll enjoy this item. Isn't it uncanny how I can look right into your soul that way?
FIVE: Anything getting this rating is among the best comicdom has to offer. You should buy/read this, even if the genre/subject matter doesn't appeal to you. It's for your own good. Me, I live for comics and books this good...but not in a pathetic "Comic-Book Guy" sort of way.
