| 2. Old School, Vol. 1 |
|
By: Various Artists January 13, 1994
There is no shortage of CD's out there claiming to have the right mix of "essential" old school funk. Of course most of them have the same old jams and are predictable to the point of boredom. Old School Vol 1 is exactly what it claims to be; a selection of classic tunes and choice tracks from back in the day. After wearing out the grooves myself I recommend that this compilation is the one you should... more

| 3. Ryde or Die, Vol. 1 |
|
By: Ruff Ryders April 27, 1999
I owned this cd about 10 years ago; and haven't heard any of the tracks since... truthfully, it is just as amazing as it was then.
All of the Ruff Ryders seem to just "Ryde" so well together... their beats, flows... you name it. IMO, there are only a few tracks out of the 15 on this album that are not great; however, they are not terrible... in fact, even pretty good.
I haven't... more

| 4. Friday: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack |
|
By: Various Artists April 11, 1995
Ice Cube's soundtrack to accompany the 1995 movie is a well-balanced mix of gangsta rap, g-funk, and cool R&B (some of it old-school soul). Dr. Dre's "Keep Their Heads Ringin'" is an all around fun time classic that got constant rotation in my native Southern Cali in spring of 1995. The beat is some sick deep-groove funk produced by Sam Sneed, a sick g-funk producer from Pittsburgh, Pa. Ice Cube'e... more

| 5. Millennium Hip-Hop Party |
|
By: Various Artists May 04, 1999
These totally 90s stars appear disguised as a millenium dance party. I really like G Thing and Baby Got Back, maybe Humpty Dance, overall just a shallow not satisfying compilation to retain your sense of humor. Whites are a minority. ... more

| 6. Menace II Society: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack |
|
From: Jive May 25, 1993
More than likely, you've seen the movie "Menace II Society", and heard many of the songs from the movie. The soundtrack is a great representation of some of the artist's great work on a movie soundtrack. Most of them are related to the actual movie, so that is a plus, but at the same time many of the songs here sound like they were scrapped off their normal albums and ended up here.
The... more

| 10. Juice: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack |
|
From: Fontana Mca December 31, 1991
Every time I look at the CD cover I have to laugh when I see Omar Epps in the background with a mean look on his face. I'm used to seeing him in the tv show House, MD. Great actor nonetheless.
The CD itself is excellent start to finish. Artists like Salt N' Pepa, Aaron Hall, Big Daddy Kane, and of course Naughty By Nature's big hit "Uptown Anthem" make this soundtrack a must have. ... more
