| 1. Soylent Green |
| Starring: Charlton Heston, Edward G. Robinson, Dick Van Patten, Chuck Connors, Joseph Cotten March 25, 2008
"Futuristic" for the '70s , Chuck Heston is a cop/investigator in a world apparently lost after world disaster . To be plain ,this "PG" movie deserves atleast PG13 rating for nudity , suggestive themes and violence. "R" might be more appropriate . The main theme , scattered throughout is , FOOD ; government supplied food "soylent" alluding to soy based products . Soylent red , blue and... more

| | 2. The Terminator |
| Starring: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Michael Biehn, Paul Winfield, Lance Henriksen Directed By: James Cameron October 02, 2001
I just received this blu-ray from Amazon on February 14 2010.
This is a full high definition transfer in 1920x1080p with uncompressed audio. This blu-ray has been made from a re-mastered source but not from a fully restored source. There is still a small amount of dust or dirt and a few small scratches but this film is still in excellent condition in my opinion.

| | 3. A Clockwork Orange (Two-Disc Special Edition) |
| Starring: Malcolm McDowell, Patrick Magee, Michael Bates, Warren Clarke, John Clive Directed By: Stanley Kubrick October 23, 2007
I purchased this item new. I got it for a very good price and it came new as expected. If you have not seen the movie, I would suggest it. Although a very great movie, it is not for people with a weak stomach. I am very satisfied with my purchase using amazon.com and plan on doing it again in the future... more

| Starring: Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, Jude Law, Gore Vidal, Xander Berkeley Directed By: Andrew Niccol March 11, 2008
In the not-too-distant future, a less than perfect man wants to travel to the stars. Society has categorized Vincent Freeman as less than suitable given his genetic make-up and he has become one of the underclass of humans that are only useful for menial jobs. To move ahead, he assumes the identity of Jerome Morrow, a perfect genetic specimen who is a paraplegic as a result of a fall. With some professional... more

| | 5. Equilibrium |
| Starring: Christian Bale, Emily Watson, Taye Diggs, Angus Macfadyen, Sean Bean Directed By: Kurt Wimmer May 13, 2003
Originally, I saw a review that stated that the Canadian release of Equilibrium removed the black bars and zoomed in on the picture. This is not so. Though both the U.S. DVD release and the Canadian release state 2.35:1, only the Canadian Import version delivers. The DVD does have black bars, but those black bars cut some of the image off. The Canadian release, by Alliance, removed the black bars and... more

| | 7. Brazil |
| Starring: Jonathan Pryce, Kim Greist, Robert De Niro, Katherine Helmond, Ian Holm Directed By: Terry Gilliam March 31, 1998
Brazil was originally released in two versions: the 142 minute European theatrical cut, and the 131 minute American theatrical cut. Terry Gilliam approved both. Then there was the 94 minute "Love Conquers All" version shown on American television, which everyone agrees is dreadful. Brazil is one of my favorite films. I've seen the 131 minute cut about ten times, and the Criterion "director's cut"... more

| | 8. Children of Men (Widescreen Edition) |
| Starring: Michael Caine, Pam Ferris, Julianne Moore, Peter Mullan, Clive Owen Directed By: Alfonso Cuarón March 27, 2007
In many ways, "Children of Men" is a very typical futuristic thriller. It of course extrapolates the current worries of our time into a dystopian nightmare of tomorrow. World ravaged by terrorism, anti-terrorism, and global warming? Check. Shadowy, sem-fascist government? Check. Soulless capitalism relentlessly shilled in ubiquitous advertising? Check. Population stripped of dignity and basic compassion?... more

| | 9. Fahrenheit 451 |
| Starring: Oskar Werner, Julie Christie, Ray Bradbury, Lewis M. Allen, Annette Insdorf Directed By: François Truffaut, Laurent Bouzereau April 01, 2003
...the main virtue of this film is that it will encourage people to read Ray Bradbury's brilliant and all-too-prophetic novel. The motion picture makes a nice try at conveying the themes, but it gets sidetracked.
By all means, read the book.
