| 1. The T.A.M.I. Show Collector's Edition |
|
Starring: The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, James Brown and The Flames, Chuck Berry, Marvin Gaye Directed By: Steve Binder March 23, 2010
I just saw most of this on PBS last night, and I think I'll pick it up - I bought some sort of a bootleg copy from Amazon a few years ago, but the picture quality is pretty bad. Just a couple of additional comments - the James Brown / Famous Flames and the Stones performances are worth the price of the DVD - amazing to see the the Stones' energy, Keith and Brian jumping around like some 70's punk... more

When I was younger, I would watch Sixteen Candles on "regular" t.v. (no cable) to just hear a song - True by Spandeau Ballet. I still love the scene at the dance but it was so much better to get this edition with all the behind the scenes info and interviews from... more

| 5. Yellow Submarine |
|
Starring: George Dunning (II), John Clive, Paul McCartney, Geoffrey Hughes, Ringo Starr Directed By: the Beatles September 14, 1999
Even though I don't like this movie quite as much as "The Adventures of Mark Twain," it's without question a mind-blowing experience. The stills at the end may be the best use of imagery I've ever seen in a visual presentation. I'm sure we can thank Heinz Edelmann for that.
The rest of the movie is almost as incredible, and my only complaint is the sequences with the meanies at the end... more

Starring: Robbie Robertson, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Neil Diamond Directed By: Martin Scorsese May 07, 2002
They don't come much better than this one when it comes to films on music making and of music to be listened to. Martin Scorsese once more showed himself to be a master of film as The Band comes to the last night of its existence and celebrates (or mourns) the event with the help of some outstanding guests.
