| 1. Kinski: My Best Fiend |
|
Starring: Werner Herzog, Klaus Kinski, Isabelle Adjani, Claudia Cardinale, Justo González Directed By: Werner Herzog August 15, 2000
In this very watchable documentary Werner Herzog pays tribute to the late Klaus Kinski, who played the lead in five of Herzog's films. This is Herzog's side of the story, of course, as Kinski is no longer around give his version.
A Peruvian actor from 'Aguirre' describes Kinski as "a diabolical character." In one memorable scene, Herzog tells a very uptight, bourgeois couple about what... more

| 2. Triumph of the Will (Special Edition) |
|
Starring: Adolf Hitler, Hermann Göring, Max Amann, Martin Bormann, Walter Buch Directed By: Leni Riefenstahl April 17, 2001
I failed miserably to appreciate Riefenstahl's great art of filmmaking. Should I have given one star to myself then? I don't think so, because I didn't fail to appreciate, for instance, "M", 1931 film by Fritz Lang, his Metropolis (1927), or, say, Russian films Okraina (1933) and Bespridannitsa (1937), or Japanese A Story of Floating Weeds by Ozu, as well as many other films produced before 1940.more

| 4. Kino-Eye/ Three Songs Of Lenin |
|
Starring: Dolores Ibárruri, Nadezhda Krupskaya, V.I. Lenin, Joseph Stalin Directed By: Dziga Vertov April 25, 2000
Though often slow-going, these Soviet propaganda films are of extreme historical interest. They should be seen by anyone intrigued by Lenin, the history of the USSR, or the Communist movement in general.
Kino-Eye is probably one of the earliest Soviet documentaries still available. Made in 1924, this silent (obviously) film tracks the adventures of a troop of Young Pioneers as they... more

| 5. Body Without Soul |
|
Starring: Wiktor Grodecki Directed By: Wiktor Grodecki October 17, 2000
I can understand fully why people gave any less than a 5 star for this movie. I am a filmmaker and this documentary is one that'll forever echo throughout history.
Every moment of it is meaningful, tight, not a fraction of a second not worth that same fraction of a second of our short lives.
This is the definitive documentary on the subject - LOOK NO FURTHER. If you are blinded... more

| 6. Attila '74 - The Rape of Cyprus |
|
Starring: Rauf Denktas, Mihalis Kakogiannis, Glafkos Klerides, Archbishop Makarios, Nikos Sampson Directed By: Mihalis Kakogiannis July 05, 2000
As a person who have been living in Cyprus since 1967, I can easily say that, the content of this DVD doesn't reflect the realities of what was lived in Cyprus in 1974. It is a one-sided, nationalist reflection of most probably an ill personality. I am rating this DVD as 1-star. That single star is for the fact that, it is a very good example of how one can twist the realities of history according... more

Of Cource I found this book very intersting since I know 95% of the people in the book. But seriously Tess did a fine job of putting it all down on paper. Wish she had talked to me before she wrote this book I could have given her lots of interesting notes. FM ... more

| 9. DRAGONS OF THE ORIENT DVD/DUBBED/7 TRAILERS FOR JET LI FILMS |
|
From: Tai Seng
Bought the documentary Saturday. Have watched it at least 10 times, and it's only Monday. Devoured the Jet Li footage. Couldn't get enough of the drunken sword at the end. Very impressed with Terry Fan, too. Would have liked to have seen more of him in the film. The rest of the footage was cheesy propoganda, but the clips of JL made it worthwhile. I loved it... more
