| 1. The Rocky Horror Picture Show (25th Anniversary Edition) |
| Starring: Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, Richard O'Brien, Patricia Quinn Directed By: Jim Sharman October 03, 2000
I love this movie, and the DVD is great, but I was greatly disappointed when I opened my DVD package and realized that all the extras that were supposed to come with the set were not there. I only got the DVD's, when it was supposed to also come with a bunch of extra booklets and other small pull-outs. Overall, the movie is great and I highly recommend it, but I was disappointed with the lack of the... more

| | 2. Victor/Victoria |
| Starring: Julie Andrews, Robert Preston, James Garner, Lesley Ann Warren, Alex Karras Directed By: Blake Edwards June 04, 2002
This is clearly Blake Edward's most significant and most pleasant film. It has very little of the garishness, decadence, and sordidness that mar some of his other work, though I admire all of his cinematic projects.
I believe it would be fair to say that Victor / Victoria is about the moment at which art stops resembling life and becomes life. The hilarious cockroach scene is a beautiful... more

| | 5. Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake (Matthew Bourne) |
| Starring: Adam Cooper, Scott Ambler, Fiona Chadwick, Barry Atkinson, Emily Piercy Directed By: Peter Mumford May 23, 2000
Even if you have never been able to sit through a complete ballet, this production of Bourne's version of Swam Lake will hold you to the end. The cast is superb. Especially of note is Adam Cooper whose raw masculinity creates a truly memorable swan. Bourne adds enough humor to let us know he is laughing with us all at life's imperfections and at those who cannot help seeing a gay in every closet... more

| | 6. The Car Man (Matthew Bourne) |
| Starring: Alan Vincent, Saranne Curtin, Will Kemp, Etta Murfitt, Scott Ambler May 13, 2003
Matthew Bourne's Car Man is a simply brilliant redo of the classic opera of the (more or less) same name. The wonderful music is all there, the plot shifted to a western US auto repair shop (from cigars to auto parts, hmmm), and as with all ballet, no spoken dialogue. But I found it simply wonderful to watch, the dancers erotic without a doubt but in a highly entertaining way. If you like the music... more

| | 7. Village People - Can't Stop the Music |
| Starring: Alex Briley, David Hodo, Glenn Hughes, Randy Jones, Felipe Rose Directed By: Nancy Walker April 16, 2002
I have always been a village people fan even back when Victor Willis was the cop!Love ya though Ray!If you are a longterm fan or even just discovered them you have to have this movie for your collection. It's fun, it's campy, lots of good music, lots of little jokes where it's almost like a movie within a movie depending on whether you get it or not. Those who do will see what I mean when they... more

| | 8. Zero Patience |
| Starring: John Robinson, Normand Fauteux, Dianne Heatherington, Richardo Keens-Douglas, Bernard Behrens Directed By: John Greyson May 17, 2005
Another dated classic. I love the raw innocence of this film. I find myself crying, laughing, being sexually aroused and singing this music days after viewing it. Sometimes I think "Broadway Musical" or high-tech modern film - but because the AIDS epidemic is something different today it probably wouldn't work. I love the actors! I love this film! I remember the person I saw it... more

| | 9. Jeanne and the Perfect Guy |
| Starring: Virginie Ledoyen, Mathieu Demy, Jacques Bonnaffé, Valérie Bonneton, Frédéric Gorny July 05, 2000
My advice is to skip this French movie musical and get Jacques Demy's "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" and "The Young Girls of Rochefort" instead. This movie is clearly an homage to the Demy films (to the point of casting his son as the leading man, even though he doesn't really fit the type), but "Jeanne and the Perfect Guy" lacks the charm and the visual inventiveness of the Demy films. The best thing... more
