| 1. The Big Lebowski - 10th Anniversary Edition |
| Starring: Jeff Bridges, Steve Buscemi, Sam Elliott, Flea, Ben Gazzara Directed By: Joel Coen September 09, 2008
This is without a doubt one of the funniest movies I've ever watched in my life. everytime we watch it, for days afterwards, my son walks around quoting the movie "hey, I've got a beverage here!" I always thought they didn't have to kill off Donnie, but who am I? still, an uproarously funny funny flick. THe part when his car gets stolen "have you got any leads?" is my favorite... more

| | 2. The Shop Around the Corner |
| Starring: Margaret Sullavan, James Stewart, Frank Morgan, Joseph Schildkraut, Sara Haden Directed By: Ernst Lubitsch October 01, 2002
"The people have spoken" in the reviews of "Shop Around the Corner"--beautifully, I might add---and it's pretty clear that this is a movie that can be truly called "classic" in every sense of the word. The director had a unique feel for filmmaking, and the "Lubitsch touch" lives up to its legend. Speaking of legends, the leads make one of the best screen couples in history. Stewart's Everyman is completely... more

| | 4. Monty Python's Life Of Brian - The Immaculate Edition |
| From: SONY PICTURES January 29, 2008
The Life of Brian seems to be an attack on the logic behind religions, governments, terrorism, and anything else you can think of. It is crude, insulting, and as funny as heck. A must for anybody who is a fan of Monty Python, loves comedy or is a fan of the Roman Empire. Get it! But I am kind of confused by the other reviews. This is not a two-disc set. This is not Blue Ray. This is... more

| | 5. Donovan's Reef |
| Starring: John Wayne, Lee Marvin, Elizabeth Allen, Jack Warden, Cesar Romero Directed By: John Ford June 05, 2001
OK - most people love this movie. If I were teaching a class in filmmaking, I would spend a few weeks lecturing on how NOT to make a movie and would use this film as a prime example.
First, the scenery was beautiful. It was filmed on Kauai in 1963 and if you want to just enjoy the beauty - great. I lived in Hawaii and so I am familiar with the locations.
However, the story... more

| | 6. How to Marry a Millionaire |
| Starring: Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable, Lauren Bacall, David Wayne, Rory Calhoun Directed By: Jean Negulesco May 29, 2001
This classic and yet not-so-classic 1950s fluff probably had the guys drooling back in the day. I never liked this film much, being as it is a silly caper of dimwit dames trying to snag rich hubbies. It has its comic moments, and if you can stick it out, you'll actually hear some modern slang that you wouldn't think they had back then. Lauren Bacall is gorgeous here as always, what else can one say?... more

| | 8. Head over Heels |
| Starring: Monica Potter, Freddie Prinze Jr., Shalom Harlow, Ivana Milicevic, Sarah Murdoch Directed By: Mark Waters July 31, 2001
Obviously, being Australian, I love this movie because of Sarah's part in it - and she's just plain funny in the role of a blonde model from Down Under. It's an enjoyable movie that doesn't strain the brain; just sit back, look at the eye candy that is Freddie Prinze Jnr and for the boys, 5 gorgeous girls to look at throughout the whole move - what's not to like about that?! *grins* It might... more

- it all up, England, Thinks it's all fake
Classic Bill.
Every now and again you'll come across a funny movie that wasn't hyped as much as say Tropic Thunder... This film best displays Bill's comic timing and deadpan delivery and is worth viewing for that alone. It's criminal how little known this movie is - sure the storyline is a little thin, but suspend your disbelief and go with the flow.
If you love Bill Murray... more

| | 10. My Man Godfrey (Color + Black-and-White) |
| Starring: William Powell, Carole Lombard, Alice Brady, Gail Patrick, Jean Dixon Directed By: Gregory La Cava July 01, 2008
Features:- My Man Godfrey is one of the top Screwball Comedies of all time -- a story of a wealthy New York family in the 1930's that brings in Godfrey, a destitute and "Forgotten Man" as their butler. William Powel plays the leading role brilliantly, and gives the family a madcap ride they will never forget. My Man Godfrey was the first film to receive Oscar nominations in all four acting catego
Criterion has taken careful steps to find an unscratched print, but it still suffers from extreme graininess, probably the result of a 16mm transfer. Hopefully, a better original can be found along with someone with the desire put it on blu-ray. My Man Godfrey is one of the best screwball comedies ever made. Powell and Lombard shine throughout this well-written, well-directed film. It is a shame that... more
