This is five stars because this is a complete, very entertaining book, for free. In my humble opinion, the promise of the Kindle is being realized, now that in addition to the Kindle you can download software for PC, Blackberry and iphone/ipod. Free books? 99 cent books? Kindle-only brilliant gems like the excellent, hard-boiled "The Wounded Man"? Kindle rules! Now, if "Dead Witch Walking"... more

By: Dennis Lehane Publisher: Harper August 25, 2009
Personally, I hate it when people write dissertations on books in these reviews. I don't care for a book report, a literary analysis or how literate the person writing the review is, I just want to know if the book was any good. I've read a ton of psych-sus books, and this one, once the ending blew me out of the water, I will have to read again. This is a MUST READ...twice. Great book!... more

| 4. The Last Song |
|
By: Nicholas Sparks Publisher: Grand Central Publishing March 01, 2010
This is the first book I have read by Nicolas Sparks, and I am hooked. In reading in bed, before I fall asleep, I had a hard time convincing myself to put this book down. I didn't want it to end, yet I wanted to know what was going to happen next.
Sparks has a superb way of getting into his characters, which allows people to fall in love with them. He broke the chapters down by each... more

| 6. Pride and Prejudice (Barnes & Noble Classics) |
|
By: Jane Austen Publisher: Barnes & Noble Classics August 01, 2003
I would have liked to have met Jane Austen, and I think she would find it entertaining that her books have lasted as long as they did.
I won't review the book itself, but rather, the Kindle version of it. The book was free (amazing) and works splendidly across my non-Kindle devices, my iPod touch and my Blackberry. That way, I can sneak 10-15 mins worth of reading in on the train or bus... more

By: Rick Riordan Publisher: Hyperion Book CH April 07, 2009
On the recommendation of my 12 year old god-daughter, I bought the whole series of 5 books. My 11 year old son loved them so much that I had to beg him to go to sleep instead of staying up reading. These were the longest books he has voluntarily read so far. Great choice for preteens... more

| 9. Dear John |
|
By: Nicholas Sparks Publisher: Grand Central Publishing December 01, 2009
I was absorbed by this book from the first page, the relationships portrayed throughout are so real, especially the father and son. I was unsure what to expect as I had never read any of this authors books - only watched The Notebook. I did need a hankie once or twice, and I wanted to get in the book and give one of the characters a bit of a talking to! I would recommend this book to anyone who... more

| 10. Slow Hands (Harlequin Blaze) |
|
By: Leslie Kelly Publisher: Harlequin June 01, 2008
I haven't read a romance book (or as I would call it, a Mills and Boon pocketbook) since high school. For all its worth, reading Slow Hands with Jake Wallace and Maddy Turner was a welcome syrupy romance. For $2.00, it's pretty good! Not too heavy on the syrup though...just light and easy to digest... more
