| 1. Turn Coat: A Novel of the Dresden Files |
|
By: Jim Butcher Publisher: Roc March 02, 2010
Jim Butcher has done it again. The Dresden Files just keep on ticking--each book has been great and Turn Coat: A Novel of the Dresden Files is no exception. Faced with a traitor within the ranks of his own kind, Harry Dresden stands up for the Warden who has made most of his life a living hell. The book starts fast and rushes forward at an exhilirating pace. Well written, and most of all, it has... more

| 2. Small Favor (The Dresden Files, Book 10) |
|
By: Jim Butcher Publisher: Roc March 03, 2009
"In the 10th edition of this hugely popular series, our resident wizard and his odd group of allies once again pit themselves against ancient enemies in the frozen streets of mid-winter Chicago. Wonderfully blending the genres of detective noir with urban fantasy, Jim Butcher continues to thrill and entertain in this fast paced, '2:00 am and I'm still reading' adventure. Like every other Jim Butcher... more

|
By: Terry Goodkind Publisher: Tor Fantasy September 30, 2008
I typically really appreciate a decent fantasy book and will at least sit through mediocre ones, but I couldn't make it through this miserable attempt at a book. The story is written at about a 3rd grade level, but with some uncomfortable sexual tension written in, too. Not uncomfortable in that the characters are uncomfortable, uncomfortable in that you feel bad for the author. I'm sure other reviewers... more

|
By: Jim Butcher Publisher: Roc September 05, 2001
This is the third book in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher.
I really liked the short lived Dresden Files TV series - they should bring it back - and the first two books were very good. This third book was good, but it could have been better.
In this installment, Harry Dresden, Chicago's only resident wizard detective, fights an evil thing called the Nightmare. It takes... more

| 5. Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, Book 1) |

By: Ilona Andrews Publisher: Ace March 27, 2007
I almost set this Urban Fantasy aside due to its slow beginning (too much backstory too soon, I think). I read a couple chapters, then read several other books before finally coming back to it. I'm glad I gave it a second chance. Others have detailed the plot, so I'll just add that it became more interesting and fast-paced about 1/4 of the way in, and the world the author built and backstory began... more

I was very pleased with the item I had purchased. It was just as advertised and shiping was super quick. I collect Stephen King novels in hardback and always read the paperback version and this was perfect for that.
5 stars to this vendor. I would use them again... more

| 7. Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, Book 3) |
|
By: Ilona Andrews Publisher: Ace March 31, 2009
This one is the best in the Kate Daniels series so far. The pacing was great; it was hard to put down at times, and the romantic tension between Kate and Curran was just right. The plot/action was perfect, with a great resolution. I like the author's world-building, and how she allows Kate to not be perfect. She gets hurt and makes mistakes like the rest of us mortals. :) I'm really looking forward... more

| 8. Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, Book 2) |
|
By: Ilona Andrews Publisher: Ace April 01, 2008
I enjoyed this second book in the Kate Daniels series more than the first due to its better pacing. (It didn't have a slow beginning like the first one did.) It was also more character-driven, so it appealed to me more. Others have detailed the plot, so I'll just add that I liked the softening relationship between Kate and Curran, as well as her building friendships/relationships with others (Derrick... more

Great book - hoping that they will republish in hardcover. I have all of these books - all twelve and I was not able to get hardcovers in about four of them - especially the Liveship Traders trilogy... more

| 10. The Color of Magic |
|
By: Terry Pratchett Publisher: HarperTorch February 02, 2000
To claim that Rincewind is a great wizard is not really honoring the truth. He wears a pointy head, that's true, and he knows some magic. That is to say: he knows exactly one spell. Even so he is not really cognizable of what would happen if he ever vocalized it. So, being a true coward and loving it, he never tries. No, he wants to stay out of the big spotlight of life. Because he generally feels... more
