I downloaded this because it was free and had good reviews. What I read was a book preaching about the perils of global warming and portrayals of physical torture. The author was positive toward the fringe believers (who kidnapped the model/heroine) while portraying the US government and the military as torturers of animals, handicapped adults, and killers of unarmed adults and children. While... more

|
By: Kim Harrison Publisher: Eos April 29, 2008
The book is funny and in a way entertaining but I would rather read someone who has a different take on vampires like J R Ward or even Lynsay Sands, I am really tired of the same Undead, cannot be in the sun and will burn or be in great pain if it touches a cross ... I appreciate that it was a freebie and will not get the rest of the series unless I can get at the library for free and again maybe not... more

The narrative grabs the reader's attention immediately and the dialogue carries the story along into a deepening mystery. I throroughly enjoyed this book as it held my interest from beginning to end and held a unexpected twist at the end. I highly recommend this book and this author... more

By: Stieg Larsson Publisher: Vintage June 23, 2009
Stieg Larsson's Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is a delight to read. With a nod to the translator, Reg Keeland, the pages flow together seamlessly and create an absorbing and fresh style that demands your attention. The characters are remarkable, the plot is suspenseful, and after it's over, you find yourself incapable to stop yourself from reading the first few pages of the sequel that is included... more

As someone who doesn't read a lot of fiction, I highly enjoyed Larsson's tale of the convoluted life that is Lisbeth Salander. The author does an excellent job at building a noir atmosphere that fits the plot, and Larsson's habit of quickly switching the third-person narration from character to character is manageable by the reader. While the plot includes some dead ends and some false information... more

The novel started off good but that was it. The hero was introduced as brown eyed and slightly overweight. The next time we see him , he has piecing blue eyes and a commanding presence. It was a very boring book. Dont waste your money... more

|
By: Stieg Larsson Publisher: Knopf May 25, 2010
I thought that the first book in this series the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" was a mediocre serial killer mystery, the second book "the Girl who played with Fire" a heart stopping/edge of your chair action thriller, and "The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" a better written version of The Firm". Together all three parts add up to make a top-notch trilogy. Stieg Larsson stays true to his character... more
