| 1. 1984 |
| By: George Orwell Publisher: Signet Classics March 15, 1985
I think I recall reading this in highschool, but of course, did not realize it's value at the time. Upon reading it 20 years later, I was amazed! This was a very shocking book in that when it was written there was no way the author could have known what would have been invented or happening in our present time or in 1984. It reads like fiction, but we know it is reality. He sheds light on many... more

| | 2. Animal Farm (New Windmills) |
| By: George Orwell Publisher: Heinemann Educational Publishers December 11, 1972
Orwell shows the incrimental rise of tyrrany among barnyard animals. That's really what is at the heart of this book: the slow methodical creep of ever more constrictive, exploitive, and oppressive laws which transform a free society to a totalitarian dictatorship. Each step is slowly introduced, and introduced to the public in a calm and well-reasoned manner. If done skillfully, no individual step... more

| | 4. Animal Farm and 1984 |
| By: George Orwell Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt June 01, 2003
I enjoyed this book from cover to cover. The first short story Animal Farm was almost like an introduction to 1984. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in conspiracy or just wants some good entertainment. It was a quick read and it was better and better every chapter!... more

| | 7. Star Wars: Legacy Volume 7 - Storms (Star Wars Legacy) |
| By: John Ostrander, Omar Francia, Jan Duursema, Dan Parsons Publisher: Dark Horse March 10, 2010
This is getting up there in the Trade Paperbacks from the Star Wars Legacy. As usual, the art is amazing and the writing is not bad, but its the story itself that I wasnt a fan of this time around. It was interesting and added another facet to the Legacy story line, but it just didnt hold me like the other TPB did. I can honestly say that for the price, you need to buy it but if your looking just for... more

| | 8. Infinite Crisis (DC Comics) |
| By: Geoff Johns, Phil Jimenez, George Perez, Jerry Ordway, Ivan Reis, Andy Lanning Publisher: DC Comics September 20, 2006
Let me start out by saying this is my first review and I do not want to give any spoilers, so the info I give will be limited. This far surpasses the previous mega DC crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths from the 1980s, which this is considered a sequal of. The previous Crisis dragged on and on at the end. This book actually focused on a limited number of characters and was a lot less confusing... more

| | 9. The Road to Wigan Pier |
| By: George Orwell Publisher: Mariner Books October 18, 1972
I had to take one star off of the review specifically for this edition, put out by Benediction Classics, Oxford. Besides being a bit over-priced, the typesetting and text itself is terrible. There are many errors and the alignment and justification that makes the book almost unreadable. There are line breaks after a single quotation, spaces where there shouldn't be and many other very distracting... more

| | 10. Star Wars: Vector Volume 2 - Chapters 3 & 4 |
| By: Rob Williams, John Ostrander, Dustin Weaver, Jan Duursema, Dan Parsons Publisher: Dark Horse March 10, 2010
Regarding the Vector cover, why is it that women in science fiction are expected to fly spaceships wearing a sexy bra and spandex pants?... more
