This was a really fun book. I love Neil Gaimen and even though this is clearly a kid's book and I may be a bit old for it, I loved it anyway!... more

| 2. American Gods |
|
By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: Headline Book Publishing March 04, 2002
I really enjoy Neil's dark sense of humor. I've read most of his works and American Gods is no exception, it is most assuredly good fantasy, but with a great satirical feel to it that kept me going strong to the very end. Highly recommended... more

| 3. Neverwhere |
|
By: Neil Gaiman April 09, 2009
A very fun, imaginative book, that is easy to read in just a few sessions. The writing is excellent, and it is easy to get swept along in the story. My complaint is that it isn't a very complex novel. It is very linear, has no subplot, and it feels as if some characters or ideas were introduced, but not ever explored by the end of the novel. A fun urban fantasy, but not much more than that... more

| 4. Coraline Movie Tie-in Edition |
|
By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: HarperFestival October 28, 2008
Coraline is a young girl, on holiday from school, who has recently moved into a new house. She is under-stimulated and bored as children often are when faced with added free time and little scheduling. In Coraline's eyes her parents are always working and far too busy to entertain her. Now you mustn't think that this is a story of a poor neglected girl. Keep in mind that she is out of school, during... more

| 5. Stardust |
|
By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: HarperTeen December 23, 2008
This book had many differences from the movie that I saw a few years ago, which allows me to appreciate both the book and the movie as two distinct works. I found the plotline of the book to be much more subdued in comparison to the movie. The love between the star and Tristan was not nearly as passionate, nor Victoria Forester quite so much of a snob. The ghosts of the Stormhold brothers were not... more

| 6. Odd and the Frost Giants |
|
By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: HarperCollins September 22, 2009
This is a short children's novel by Neil Gaiman (if an eight chapter book can be called a "novel"). It occurs back in the days of the Vikings, and stars a misfit boy named Odd. He runs away from home, and encounters three animals who turn out to be Norse gods. I could say more, but I don't want to spoil it. This is an ejoyable, quick read... more

| 7. Anansi Boys |
|
By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: HarperAudio September 20, 2005
I have read almost all of Neil Gaiman's books. All of them are good but I personally liked this one the most. You fall in love with the story and the characters and settings are so exotic and colorful... What does Neil Gaiman see when he looks at the world? I want to see that!

| 8. Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch |
|
By: Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett Publisher: Harper Paperbacks August 07, 2007
This is a great novel, a standalone as far as I know, it is neither a sequel, nor has it one yet (and most likely never will). This was co-written by Terry Pratchett but is NOT set on Discworld, rather, in a version of our "real world" but, with Christian mythology actually being true. I found the writing style to be almost deliberately Douglas Adams-esque. This is a well-written, funny book, that... more

| 9. The Sandman Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes |
|
By: Neil Gaiman Publisher: Vertigo December 07, 1993
Gaiman's Sandman series is widely considered one of the finest achievements in the graphic novel medium, but does it live up to all the hype? In this opening volume, a mortal who intends to capture Death accidentally snags her sibling Dream instead and winds up keeping him prisoner for decades. Finally escaping, Dream sets about reclaiming his lost talismans so he can rebuild his kingdom, which has... more

| 10. Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell |
|
By: Susanna Clarke Publisher: Bloomsbury USA September 29, 2009
I am glad I borrowed this book from a friend, who kept telling me it was marvellous. I tried, I really tried to read it. I stopped after more than 200 pages where almost nothing happened. Oh, well, to tell the truth, "some things" happened, but they were so uninteresting that I could not believe. The plot? Nonsense. The style? A bad joke. No humor at all, terrible characters - I wished all of... more
