| 1. Lupin the III: The Castle of Cagliostro (Special Edition) |
|
Starring: Bob Bergen, Yasuo Yamada, Eiko Masuyama, Kiyoshi Kobayashi, Makio Inoue Directed By: Hayao Miyazaki August 29, 2006
The Castle of Cagliostro is the second animated film for the Lupin III franchise, and is also the first feature film directed by Hayao Miyazaki. When watching this film, you can see that it has Miyazaki's touch to it, especially when it comes to the animation. However, there is a difference in the tone between The Castle of Cagliostro and Miyazaki's later films. This film does have a bit more humor... more

| 3. Lupin the 3rd - The World's Most Wanted (TV Series, Vol. 1) |
|
Starring: Yasuo Yamada, Kiyoshi Kobayashi, Gorô Naya, Richard Epcar, Jake Martin January 28, 2003
I ordered this DVD after seeing a very short clip from an episode. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but I really like it.
For a show about wanted criminals, it avoids a lot of the cliches that come to mind such as having the central cast in some kind of secluded location to avoid cops almost all the time. Speaking of which, the central cast are more likable than I expected (though... more

Starring: Yasuo Yamada, Kiyoshi Kobayashi, Gorô Naya, Richard Epcar, Jake Martin July 08, 2003
Like I've said in my other reviews, this series is wonderful. The delightfully cheesy animation and the witty dialogue make this series one of my all time favorites. My favorite episode on this volume is "I Left My Mind in San Fransisco" where Lupin ends up chasing Zenigata!... more

Whether your prefer the original Japanese track or the English dubbed version, this is one of the better collections of Lupin's adventures. Fans of the series will enjoy Miyazaki at his finest in "Rats to You" and "Shot Through the Heart." This is also the only disc to prominently feature Fujiko as the main character on the cover, reason enough to add this to your collection!... more

| 10. Lupin the 3rd - The Secret of Mamo |
|
Starring: Robert Axelrod, Richard Cansino, George C. Cole, Richard Epcar, Osgood W. Glick Directed By: Richard Epcar, Soji Yoshikawa July 29, 2003
This is the 1995 Streamline/Orion dub of the first LUPIN THE THIRD animated film from the late 1970's, which has many titles but here is called MYSTERY OF MAMO. Pioneer would redub it roughly ten years later when they had the LUPIN license as "SECRET OF MAMO" and while that is probably an easier disc to get your hands on, this is the superior dub. The translation is closer and the jokes are less topical... more
