| | 4. Wolf's Rain - Leader of the Pack (Vol. 1) |
| Starring: Steve Blum, Bob Buchholz, Arisa Ogasawara, Unshô Ishizuka, Kaho Kôda Directed By: Tensai Okamura June 22, 2004
I don't have much to say, really. It is certainly one of my all-time favorite animés. While the ending may seem confusing, it fits the story and is certainly no more confusing than many highly rated movies. Some of the characters are quite memorable. The graphics are beautiful; the story is sad and poignant with an ending that implies salvation. It is not kiddy stuff. ... more

| Starring: Steve Blum, Bob Buchholz, Arisa Ogasawara, Unshô Ishizuka, Kaho Kôda Directed By: Tensai Okamura May 24, 2005
When Wolf's Rain made it's original run on Cartoon Network, it was these final four episodes that I had been unable to see. But I had always wanted to see those final four episodes, so much so that I was willing to spend the hefty dollar on the Limited Complete Collection in order to get not only those last episodes, but also the first twenty-six as well. And, after finally being able to see the ending... more

well i guess you could say everything in the series has been leading up to these moments, but now with the wolves in jagura's keep and darcia making a surprise appearance as well, who knows how things will go. cheza's been rescued (again) and now the quest for paradise is almost at a end. how will it all conclued... more

| Starring: Steve Blum, Bob Buchholz, Arisa Ogasawara, Unshô Ishizuka, Kaho Kôda Directed By: Tensai Okamura October 12, 2004
Lurking behind the story until now have been the nobles a mysterious ruling class with their own agendas. We know that there is strife between then, that Cheza was stolen from the Darcias, and that Lady Jaguera hates wolves. But we don't really know much else. This DVD is there turn, even though it leaves more mysteries than it solves.
Even as the House of Lords arrest Hubb Lebowski... more

| Starring: Steve Blum, Bob Buchholz, Arisa Ogasawara, Unshô Ishizuka, Kaho Kôda Directed By: Tensai Okamura August 24, 2004
Part of the surprise for me in this series is how easy it was for me to write it off as yet another bishonen fantasy anime based on the previews. Even if you do class it as an example of anime's cult of the beautiful, it stretches the definition of that genre just as Saiyuki does. Stretching it to the point where defining it by the good looks of its main characters is folly. Now that I've seen ten... more

| Starring: Steve Blum, Bob Buchholz, Arisa Ogasawara, Unshô Ishizuka, Kaho Kôda Directed By: Tensai Okamura December 14, 2004
Yes, this volume is a recap, and people are warned. My understanding was that it was necessary in the telling of the series to a television audience in Japan as the outbreak of SARS necessitated a halt in production for several months. So, don't get this unless you're a hardcore fan, but an understanding of why these four recap episodes were released hopefully ameliorates some of the harsh criticism... more
