| 1. Clash of the Titans (Snap Case) |
| Starring: Laurence Olivier, Harry Hamlin, Claire Bloom, Maggie Smith, Ursula Andress Directed By: Desmond Davis June 01, 2004
Movie - 3.5
Similar to a lot of people, I remember seeing this (if not bits and pieces of it) on TV growing up as a kid. If not this, then probably some form of Jason and The Argonauts or The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad. Ray Harryhausen and his people did a great job trying to captivate audiences with their work, with Clash of the Titans likely being their most memorable effort. Almost 30... more

| Starring: Kate Beckinsale, Ian Holm, Penelope Wilton, Siân Phillips, Geoffrey Palmer Directed By: John Henderson January 11, 2005
I found this movie in a bargain bin and I'm quite happy about that because it was one of the most disappointing movies I've ever seen. I looked at the cast and was quite eager to watch it. Some of my favorite actors in one of my favorite stories? How could I go wrong? I really should have known better when an Alice was being played by an adult. Not even these very talented people could make this movie... more

| | 5. The Age of Innocence |
| Starring: Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Winona Ryder, Alexis Smith, Geraldine Chaplin Directed By: Martin Scorsese November 06, 2001
DDL is one of the best actors in the world and this movie I think is intentionally ABOUT being technically perfect but chemistry-free by actually being technically perfect and chemistry free. This movie made me think (1) who in their right mind would want to be a part of NY society if you weren't born into it and (2) brownstone living is an outmoded style of housing in NYC and we should probably tear... more

Bearing witness to the saga is Claudius, whose stutter and limp have marke
I, Claudius was a brilliant piece of work, a masterpiece, of the BBC that generated a huge response from critics and viewers, both in the UK and in the US. The fact that I can now get a good copy, an uncut copy, is wonderful. One of the best historical dramas to come out of television, outside of HBO's ROME. And let us look at all the star power. John Hurt, Derek Jaccobi, Patrick Stewart, Brian... more

| | 8. Dune (Widescreen) |
| Starring: Francesca Annis, Leonardo Cimino, Brad Dourif, José Ferrer, Linda Hunt Directed By: David Lynch March 31, 1998
I give my sympathies to the Herbert family and to the fans of Frank and Brian Herbert's storytelling. I was finished reading the first three magnificent books when I saw the movie and accepted it because of my appreciation for Herbert's writing. After reading the Legends of Dune and the Dune: House Trilogy books by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson and re-reading Frank's book Dune, I am perplexed... more

| | 10. Valmont |
| Starring: Colin Firth, Annette Bening, Meg Tilly, Fairuza Balk, Siân Phillips Directed By: Milos Forman September 17, 2002
WOW! I liked the *Dangerous Liaisons* film, but LOVED this one! Annette Bening and Colin Firth make a more human, believable pair of seductive snakes than Glenn Close and John Malkovich did (though GC and JM were good too). This film is stunningly beautiful. Over and over, Milos Forman created scenes that look like masterly paintings in motion. I can't even think what it cost to make this... more
