| 2. The Agatha Christie Miss Marple Movie Collection (Murder at the Gallop / Murder Ahoy / Murder Most Foul / Murder She Said) |
|
Starring: Margaret Rutherford, Lionel Jeffries, Ron Moody, Arthur Kennedy, Charles 'Bud' Tingwell Directed By: George Pollock March 14, 2006
What a treat. Margaret Rutherford puts all the joy and suspense and it all amounts to sheer pleasure. The wonderful expressions on her face and the frustrated chief inspector are just a hoot. I particularly like that she gets several marriage proposals. Hang in there Mr Stringer! There are so many Miss Marples but for my money Margaret Rutherford is the perfect sly as a fox addled Jane. I have... more

| 3. The Fallen Idol - Criterion Collection |
|
Starring: Ralph Richardson, Michèle Morgan, John Boorman, Joseph Cotten, Bryan Forbes Directed By: Andy Kelleher, Carol Reed November 07, 2006
It is unfortunate that the Criterion issue of Reed's film has several missing frames in the sequence in which Sonia Dresdel notices Bobby Henrey on the dangerous ledge. The British issue has exactly the same defect (as well as being inferior in every other way). Clearly both issues used the same damaged print. Otherwise, the American disc is up to the usual high Criterion standards. - Anthony... more

| 4. Twelve Chairs |
|
Starring: Ron Moody, Frank Langella, Dom DeLuise, Andréas Voutsinas, Diana Coupland Directed By: Mel Brooks September 05, 2006
This is an underappreciated gem. A great story with a depth of character not often provided by Brooks' films. While growing up in the 70's our famly watched this almost yearly. Great over-the-top performances by Dom DeLuise, Ron Moody and a great bit part by Mel Brooks. Frank Langella's part is well done as a handsome and sly con man. Only one short "non-family friendly" scene in the very beginning... more

| 9. The Unidentified Flying Oddball |
|
Starring: Dennis Dugan, Jim Dale, Ron Moody, Kenneth More, John Le Mesurier Directed By: Russ Mayberry August 03, 2004
The movie title alone suggests that you're in for all kinds of goofiness. UNIDENTIFIED FLYING ODDBALL is Disney's very loose adaptation of Mark Twain's classic, A CONNECTICUT YANKEE IN KING ARTHUR'S COURT. And for the younger kids who've played at being an astronaut or a valorous knight, they'll get a kick out of this one. I'm trying to be objective, but I have to say that I read the novelization of... more

I had been searching for a copy of this movie for years. I scanned late night TV in case I might happen upon a showing, but no luck. I have never spied a video or DVD copy in any store but now, thanks to Amazon, I finally found it! I saw the original TV movie back in 1969 and was completely enchanted by it. Full scenes and dialogue from this film have remained in my mind for forty years! The... more
