Editorial Comments

Description:
With poker-faced impersonation as their weapon, and World Trade Organization officials as their target, the Yes Men pull off one bold prank after another in an effort to raise political consciousness. And when their outrageous stunts are actually swallowed, hook, line and sinker the Yes Men must up the satirical ante and push the art of public spectacle to hilarious new heights!

5 out of 5 starsA Hilarious Documentary
Shadow Watcher
Nobody Drowns in Mineral Lake

This hilarious documentary records the adventures of Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonannno, known as "The Yes Men". Their purpose is to raise the political consciousness of the public against the World Trade Organization.

Posing as representatives of the WTO, these guys speak to economic groups around the world, proposing utterly outrageous scenarios which their listeners and the press apparently take seriously.

For example, at one European conference, the guys facetiously claim that there is an internet website where an American citizen can sell his/her Presidential vote to the highest bidder. And, the audience buys it.

On the other hand, an American college audience may have believed the guys' claim that MacDonald's was reclaiming their hamburgers from human waste and selling them to underdeveloped countries as food, but they also booed the pair off the stage.

Directed by Chris Smith, Dan Ollman and Sarah Price, the DVD features audio commentary by the directors and the "Yes Men," plus deleted scenes.

5 out of 5 starsCreative, engaging and a new type of comedy
This movie pulled me in deeper every 10 minutes. The writers/actors pull off some amazingly clever stunts with perfect acting precision. The way they mimic corporate verbal communication (semi-effeminate males), and wrap their appalling proposals into formats that mask their audacity, and then use euphemisms to downplay the message is spot-on. I work in the corporate world, and things can get this eerie.
This is one of the most creative films i've seen in a long time.

5 out of 5 starsMust see
This video simply must be seen to understand where the US really stands in relation to the rest of the world. If I had my way it would be required to view and review it in order to graduate high school.

3 out of 5 starsThe Yes Men
I enjoy the politics of this film but is a poorly produced film as film - too much trivia of how they did things, got places and informal chatting that adds nothing to the flow of the film. A shorter film that focuses only on the politics would be much more usable at activists' meetings, conferences, etc.

3 out of 5 starsWitty Guys, Crappy Movie
I like the satire, and I laughed out loud during the presentation scenes. However watching these guys hang out and prep, which is most of the movie, is less exciting than watching hair grown on fruit. I recommend fast forwarding to the actual 'lectures' before audiences.
