| 1. Message to Love - The Isle of Wight Festival |
| Starring: Ian Anderson, Joan Baez, Martin Barre, John Bonham, Chick Churchill Directed By: Murray Lerner December 10, 1997
As is true of some, or many, of the previous Amazon reviewers of this film, if you expected it to be focused on the music being played, as he did in his films on the Who, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan (the last named at Newport), you will quite justifiably be disappointed. This is a story of an event, the gathering of 600,000, mostly young people, on an island off the coast of England, to attend a Rock... more

We have to murders and two murders, but the drama is so long drawn out that the interest in the dry mystery sort of wains over time. The strange fellow who murders his prostitute aunt and is gotten off by the female barracuda lawyer for criminal defense who thinks winning is as important as justice. She alienates just about everybody around her from her daughter to the... more

| | 5. Molly and Lawless John starring Sam Elliot |
| Starring: Sam Elliot, Vera Miles, Clu Gulager, John Anderson, Cynthia Myers Directed By: n/a August 25, 2009
This must be one of Sam Elliot's first movies. It is very poor and I do not recommend it. It is not appropriate for young viewers. Sam Elliot had not yet developed his appealing true-cowboy persona in this film and those who are looking for another "Conagher" will be disappointed. My opinion--don't waste your money... more

In this vivid adaptation of the first book in the series, recently orphaned Sally Lockhart, armed with a pearl-handled pistol and her keen mind, uncovers the secrets of her fathe
This is the first (of very many) Masterpiece Theater productions that I did not like at all. Too many confusing characters who are poorly developed and make brief, strange appearances; endless holes in the plot; overall, not very entertaining. Considering the dozens of other productions I have consistently enjoyed, this does not deserve the Masterpiece label. ... more

| | 7. Oliver's Travels |
| Starring: Ruth Madoc, Alan Bates, Sinéad Cusack, Bill Paterson, Miles Anderson Directed By: Giles Foster March 01, 2005
Though it's been twelve years since Oliver's Travels initially aired on PBS, it's one of those hard to categorize jewels never completely forgotten. It's shown up in conversations, "What was, you know, that PBS thing where the couple went around England looking for the crossword guy?"
This is it, and a joy it is! Alan Bates is deightfully dotty as Oliver and Sinead Cusack (Mrs. Jeremy... more

If you wish to get a glimpse of a Sultan's palace, and his harem of beautiful ladies, and see how they all lived, then this movie is just for you! It is a very romantic, sensual story, with lots of action, and adventure, and drama; men and women both, would like this movie! This movie also, has a all-star cast of outstanding actors: OMAR SHARIF as the Sultan; and AVA GARDNER as the Sultan's... more

The reader will not need to trawl through too many reviews about Giles Foster's 1994 adaptation of Joanna Trollope's (b.1943) novel of the same name before he or she realizes that there is considerable disagreement about the merits and flaws of this production.
Anyway, without giving too much away, the essence of the main plot is thus; Anna is the Rev Peter Boverie's apparently long-suffering... more
