| 1. The Great Gatsby |
| Starring: Robert Redford, Mia Farrow, Bruce Dern, Karen Black, Scott Wilson Directed By: Jack Clayton December 02, 2003
The Great Gatsby is a colorful, funny, panoramic book full of penetrating individual character studies and strong opinions about the lives of the wealthy. This movie version doesn't communicate any of the book's depth. The director focuses the movie on Gatsby's and Daisy's brief romance. It is the main focus of the movie. But in the book, their 'romance' is a minor point. It doesn't occupy many pages... more

| | 4. Rosemary's Baby |
| Starring: Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes, Ruth Gordon, Sidney Blackmer, Maurice Evans Directed By: Roman Polanski October 03, 2000
Rosemary's Baby really isn't as shocking as it must have been when it was released in theaters, but I greatly admire this movie. While the shock effect really wasn't there (for me at least), there is great acting; suspense; drama; excellent sets; a well written script that allows for good character development and fine cinematography. The choreography was very well done, too. The action moves along... more

| | 6. Crimes and Misdemeanors |
| Starring: Caroline Aaron, Alan Alda, Martin S. Bergmann, Bill Bernstein, Claire Bloom Directed By: Woody Allen June 05, 2001
Having just recently viewed this film, I have to say that my appreciation of Woody Allen has grown tremendously. I never realized how much of an artist he truly is.
This film actually follows a similar pattern as the old greek plays and many of the more modern plays where you have a main plot that's more serious and cerebral, counterbalanced by a second plot that's a little more earthy... more

| | 7. Arthur and the Invisibles (Widescreen Edition) |
| Starring: Jason Bateman, Robert De Niro, Mia Farrow, Harvey Keitel, Adam Le Fevre May 15, 2007
I saw this movie in a German edition first. So I bought it for my daughter in Amazon.com. But the disappointment came as soon as I saw the american version of the film. At least 10 minutes less of the original version because there are many portions which were censored by who knows who. The level of hipocresy of the americans is unbelievable. They converted a very good movie, with a lot of blinks for... more

This film may have some cheesy parts and the story may seem ridiculous at times other than that it is funny cute and superb for its budget. Helen Slater play the geek well and the hero well i don't know who could have done better. good film loved surprised when i got to the middle every one told me it was a horrible film but don't let people fool you it is a funny a bit cheesy and exciting film its... more

We have this movie on an old VHS and decided to update to DVD. It is one of our seasonal holiday movies. We begin with ET for Halloween.
