This is a review of the 25th Anniversary Edition.
This DVD was made from a full screen version where the left and right sides were cropped. From that image, they cropped the top and the bottom to produce this so-called widescreen version. The image you see when watching this DVD consists of a small rectangle cut from the center of the original movie. If you could find a full screen version... more

| Starring: Bruce Abbott, Al Berry, Gerry Black, James Earl Cathay, Jeffrey Combs March 20, 2007
I WOULD SUGGEST YOUNG KIDS NOT SEE THIS FILM AS THERE IS SOME NUDITY, SUGGESTED SEXUAL CONTACT AND OVER THE TOP GORY EFFECTS. HAVING SAID THAT, I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE OVER THE AGE OF 16 (PROVIDED YOU'RE NOT FAINT OF HEART FROM WATCHING GORY SPECIAL EFFECTS) TO SEE THIS FILM.
THIS IS ONE OF THE FEW HORROR FILMS OF THE 1980'S TO EFFECTIVELY COMBINE COMEDY AND HORROR WITH BLACK HUMOR, MUCH... more

| | 5. The Spiral Staircase |
| Starring: Dorothy McGuire, George Brent, Ethel Barrymore, Kent Smith, Rhonda Fleming Directed By: Robert Siodmak October 04, 2005
THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE (1945) open unexpectedly within a recreated nickelodeon. A small space with a couple of dozen patrons on straight back wooden chairs, a pianist off to the right of a little screen and a hand-cranking projectionist (who's in the same room) all watch a melodramatic short called THE KISS.
But that brief scene just introduces us to a bygone era. Soon after, this delicious... more

This is a very excellent movie rivaling and in my opinion, surpassing Appleseed. The "live animation" look is interesting in that it incorporates animation and CGI. The soundtrack is great, and the story is very intriguing on the whole. Character development is for the most part good, though the main character could have stood for a bit more. This 2-disc version has alot of interviews, footage... more

| | 7. Prozac Nation |
| Starring: Christina Ricci, Jason Biggs, Anne Heche, Michelle Williams, Jonathan Rhys Meyers Directed By: Erik Skjoldbjærg July 05, 2005
I try to catch as many movies of Christina Ricci as I can being a fan of hers. There's a small handful I enjoy and most of the others are just so-so. For me Prozac Nation falls into the so-so category. For starters, aside from the story or performance, Christina seems to be in between her "chubby" state and her latter very thin state. I prefer her fuller-figured frame but the look in this movie is... more

| | 8. Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer - Double Feature (More Than Murder / Murder Me, Murder You) |
| Starring: Stacy Keach, Lindsay Bloom, Don Stroud, Kent Williams, Tim McIntire Directed By: Gary Nelson April 25, 2006
I loved this series when it was on TV in the 80's and it is still just as entertaining today. My husband and I would watch it with our 9 year old son who was taking saxophone lessons at the time and he learned to play Harlem Nocturne. It is still one of the greatest jazz songs ever made. I only wish like so many others that they would bring the entire series back on DVD and not just the made for TV... more

| | 9. Mike Hammer, Private Eye - The Complete Series |
| Starring: Stacy Keach, Shane Conrad, Shannon Whirry, Kent Williams, Peter Jason July 26, 2005
I noticed there were several people who thought that the original series that aired in the mid 80's was better, but I beg to differ. Maybe it is because I am older now and found the older series fun, but a little cheeses as was so much of TV in the 80's. The later series from 1997 and 1998 does have an older Hammer, a wiser Hammer and still attracts the ladies, but the humor seems better and the... more

| | 10. Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple - Season One |
| Starring: Josh Grelle, Jason Liebrecht, Carrie Savage, Kent Williams, Joel McDonald Directed By: Monica Rial May 25, 2010
An anime series about a boy learning martial-arts from a gang of masters sounds... kinda boring. Fortunately it's anything but -- "Kenichi: Season One" is a solid start to this deliciously oddballish series, with plenty of gutsplitting comedy, explosive action, a hint of romance, and extremely eccentric martial artists. And the "weak knees" main character makes it easy for you to root for him. more
