| 1. The Others (Two-Disc Collector's Edition) |
| Starring: Nicole Kidman, Christopher Eccleston, Fionnula Flanagan, Alakina Mann, James Bentley Directed By: Alejandro Amenábar May 14, 2002
I loved the setting, I love the story, and the ending will knock your socks off. Also, I found Victorian death photography both fascinating and repulsive at the same time... more

| | 2. Resident Evil - Extinction (Widescreen Special Edition) |
| Starring: Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, Ali Larter, Iain Glen, Ashanti Directed By: Russell Mulcahy January 01, 2008
As a guy who plays the games I can say as a fan of Resident Evil that watching this movie is equivalent to being violated by a rusty chainsaw. Alice isn't so much a character as an eldritch abomination feeding on the competence of everyone from the games. What's worse Alice's powers don't make sense even in the often absurd rules of the games: for instance, the t-virus gives psychic powers-it bears... more

| | 3. Beyond a Reasonable Doubt |
| Starring: Michael Douglas, Jesse Metcalfe, Amber Tamblyn, Dave Jensen, John "Spud" McConnell December 22, 2009
If you had told me I would some day watch a legal thriller in which Michael Douglas played a corrupt DA and I would hate it, I would never have believed you. That is almost an achievement in and of itself...although maybe it fell short there too, as there is nothing about this movie that is thrilling. I spend half the time wondering how they managed to lure Michael Douglas into this stinker... more

| | 4. The Four Feathers (Full Screen Collector's Edition) |
| Starring: Wes Bentley, Mohamed Bouich, Campbell Brown (III), Daniel Caltagirone, James Cosmo Directed By: Shekhar Kapur February 18, 2003
Nice costumes, pretty scenery and a brief, although well choreographed, desert battle scene are inadequate compensation for poor acting, silly dialogue and a painfully slow start that plague an interminable film with a conspicuously thin plot.
Purists will also object to the fact that this current effort obscures the important reason, made plain in the Mason novel and the wonderful 1939... more

| | 5. Andy Richter Controls the Universe: The Complete Series |
| Starring: Andy Richter, Paget Brewster, Irene Molloy, Jonathan Slavin, James Patrick Stuart Directed By: Andy Ackerman, Bryan Gordon, Jay Chandrasekhar, John Fortenberry, Lee Shallat Chemel March 24, 2009
The show, like this review, had a short lifespan. Andy and his supporting cast were all terrific and the writing was hilarious. The flashbacks, the fantasies, and the hallucinations turned the show into a bizarre, jaunty delight. As with too many quality programs to air on FOX, it got juggled and shuffled into oblivion. But it was great fun while it lasted... more

| | 6. Nero |
| Starring: Hans Matheson, Laura Morante, Rike Schmid, Simón Andreu, Sonia Aquino Directed By: Paul Marcus September 06, 2005
Wow. Does this ever suck. I don't know how they managed to bowdlerize the story of Messalina, but they did. She barely seemed naughty, let alone the biggest whore of her era. And the rest of the movie was similarly evened out into an unpalatable, bland, mass of movie tofu. Yuck! ... more

| | 10. White Huntress/Jungle Siren |
| Starring: Ann Corio, Buster Crabbe, Evelyn Wahl, Paul Bryar, Milton Kibbee Directed By: George P. Breakston, Sam Newfield January 11, 2005
I have been seeking this film for some time, but was unhappy with the actual film, shortened by some seven minutes, and not up to the standard as I recall, lurid cover, of a non-existent scene, and in grey rather than black & white. Better than no souvenir of the performers, but not an ideal memory of the now late artistes... more
