Northville Cemetery Massacre originally released in 1975 has achieved international cult recognition. Influenced by Dennis Hopper’s "Easy Rider" and Sam Peckinpah’s "The Wild Bunch" and reflecting the spirit of the times as the film "Woodstock" these filmmakers chose a biker theme and freedom of the open road. In addition to the picture’s unique POV, the film introduces the early distinctive voice of Nick Nolte for Chris, the lead in the film. Michael Nesmith, formerly of the Monkees, created the picture’s powerful musical score. Rated R this film is one of the most brutally honest and thought-provoking independent movies to come out of the 1970s. We are on the side of the bikers from the very opening scene as they approach and surround an elderly couple with a flat tire on their vintage car. We are expecting the worst; however, the bikers in good spirit change their tire and ride on. This fast-paced, action-packed picture continues to surprise and entertain. Two Stars For Mike Nesmith The only reason I purchased this DVD was to hear the musical score written by ex-Monkee Michael Nesmith. Apparently, the producers of this low budget bomb approached Nesmith asking if he could create the score for free. He was so taken by their nerve that he agreed. It's the only redeeming aspect of the film. The acting - if that's what it's called - is quite painful as is the plot. The cover of the DVD boldly states "the ultimate biker flick". Thanks, but I'll stick with "Easy Rider". Anyway, here's a quick synopsis: "The Northville Cemetery Massacre" is a terrible movie featuring an interesting music score by the most underrated songwriter of all time.
So just roll with the flow wherever it goes even if it rolls out of here.....la de da.........

Great job by VCI Home Video for releasing the 30th Anniversary Edition - Director's Cut of "Northville Cemetery Massacre" (1976), digital transfere with a clean, clear and crisp print ... looking forward to more of the same vintage ... that only VCI Entertainment (King of the Serials, B-Westerns and Film Noir) can deliver --- VCI was named in Variety and Hollywood Reporter as the first company to produce and release motion pictures directly to the home marketplace --- just the way we like 'em.
