5 out of 5 starsIncredibly moving!
This film tells the still largely unknown story of America's failure to help rescue Jews from Hitler's Europe. There was plenty the US could have done, but politics, xenophobia, isolationism and just plain anti-Semitism kept the Roosevelt administration from acting until it was practically too late. The hero of the story is a man named Peter Bergson, who worked tirelessly to organize groups in the States to pressure Washington. The filmmaker interviews everyone involved, including Bergson, Congressman Emmanuel Celler, Nahum Goldmann, etc. It will change the way you view the history of the period.
