For years Tom Cruise has done some films that pull the envelope for his talent. DEspite being nominated for 3 Academy Awards, this man still stands as one of Hollywood's most successful actors. Although it does seem that whenever he works with actors they seem to either to get nominated or win an Oscar. I believe the first serious movie he was in is The Color of Money (1986) when Paul Newman won... more

I happened upon this at the library; yet another tv series I knew next to nothing of (watching almost no tv will do that). But I've always laughed at Piven elsewhere, and HBO is the best at letting writers write, so I gave it a shot; season two was all they had, so I started here.
I didn't know the backstory of season one but it became pretty clear, and the characters grew on me within... more

A few weeks ago I got every season of this show from my local libraries and watched them in order during a very funny week. Without a doubt I enjoyed season three the most, mainly due to Piven's great story line, and Dillon's constant wry hilarity. This is also the season where Ari's assistant Lloyd comes into his own, and he does it very humorously. The writing is strong throughout... more

| | 4. Malcolm X |
| Starring: Denzel Washington, Angela Bassett, Al Freeman Jr., Sonny Jim Gaines, Albert Hall Directed By: Spike Lee January 18, 2000
As a baby boomer growing up in the South during the 60's, I was always told that Malcom X was the violent of the leaders of the struggle of African Americans, in contrast to Martin Luther King. After watching this magnificent film, and reading THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MALCOM X by Alex Haley, I have to say that my perspective of Malcom X has been drastically altered. He was a visionary and Spike Lee's... more

Thid id s terrific movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My credentials for rating a movie are purely subjective: I like what I like and find most professional movie reviewers are off the mark most of the time. Based on how I liked the movie I offer the following:
The story line is fascinating. There aren't too many two and one half hour movies I can say this about. I have no illusions... more
