| 1. Auntie Mame |
| Starring: Rosalind Russell, Forrest Tucker, Coral Browne, Fred Clark, Patrick Knowles October 01, 2002
I accidentally caught this movie on TV years ago. I howled with laughter - I had never seen Rosiland Russell in a wonderful comedic role. The movie is one of the few movies that is as good or better than the book by Patrick Dennis. This movie is just plain fun - don't miss the southern hunt with Auntie Mame's beau. ... more

| | 3. Xanadu - Magical Musical Edition (With Complete Soundtrack CD) |
| Starring: Olivia Newton-John, Gene Kelly, Michael Beck, Teri Beckerman, Sandahl Bergman Directed By: Robert Greenwald June 24, 2008
This film would never have made it in the good old days of the hollywood musical. It is unique in that is has those skating sequences and a fair story line. Visually it is still a great movie and Olivia Newton-John is its star vehicle. You not want to see it more than once and it won't be confused with Starlight Express but it good to have when you a diversion from the day - to - day... more

| | 4. American Dreamer |
| Starring: JoBeth Williams, Tom Conti, Giancarlo Giannini, Coral Browne, James Staley Directed By: Rick Rosenthal May 03, 2005
So far I have ordered two used items from Amazon and I am so very pleased that they are both in such good condition and the price is great. I live on a fixed income and I appreciate that there is somewhere on line that I can shop for hard to find items that are not only affordable but are also of the best quality. I have been looking for this movie for the last year and Amazon is great for locating... more

| | 5. The Ruling Class - Criterion Collection |
| Starring: Peter O'Toole, Alastair Sim, Arthur Lowe, Harry Andrews, Coral Browne Directed By: Peter Medak October 30, 2001
This movie doesn't know what it's own genre is. It's a silly romp for over 2 hours, then suddenly becomes a dark comedy.
If it weren't for Alistair Sim's brilliance, I'd have turned this off several times. Every scene with Sim is magical and original.
Putting aside all the weird 70's crumminess, it's hard to warm up to characters with awful wigs spewing Shakespearean-like... more

Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: DRAMA Rating: NR Age: 794051253521 UPC: 794051253521 Manufacturer No: E2535
How splendid the performances in this gripping suspense drama. In the reading, Shaw's play can seem flat, but in this production the characteristic Shavian twists and unconventional turns are carefully shaped and the scenes build to their well-defined climaxes. The costumes and settings are superb, and, happily, the production is not tainted by the Merchant/Ivory style dedicated to the super-realism... more

| | 7. The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone |
| Starring: Vivien Leigh, Warren Beatty, Coral Browne, Jill St. John, Jeremy Spenser Directed By: José Quintero May 02, 2006
You will love Vivien Leigh, not be crazy about Warren Beatty (but he is beautiful) and love the photography in this movie. Tennessee Williams is my favorite author so I love everything that he does and this was no exception. There is another version with Helen Mirren that is good too but Vivien will always have that aura about her that we all so loved. Try this one for a 'moody' afternoon to see... more

| | 8. American Dreamer 1984: I Love the 80's Edition |
| Starring: JoBeth Williams, Tom Conti, Giancarlo Giannini, Coral Browne, James Staley Directed By: Rick Rosenthal February 03, 2009
This little film was largely overlooked during thearical release. I saw one 'preview of coming attractions', kept my eyes open, and even so missed its brief theatrical release. Several years later I rented the VHS. It started out slowly, and my husband drifted off to do something else. However, soon my giggles and guffaws drew him back, as the story picked up once the heroine arrives in... more

THE KILLING OF SISTER GEORGE"
Still Wonderful
Amos Lassen and Cinema Pride
1968 seems so long ago and even stranger than that is the idea that a movie made about lesbians back then still holds its own today. When "The Killing of Sister George" hit the big screen back then, the public was not quite ready for it. Nonetheless, even with a lesbian... more
