This film would never have made it in the good old days of the hollywood musical. It is unique in that is has those skating sequences and a fair story line. Visually it is still a great movie and Olivia Newton-John is its star vehicle. You not want to see it more than once and it won't be confused with Starlight Express but it good to have when you a diversion from the day - to - day... more

This movie doesn't know what it's own genre is. It's a silly romp for over 2 hours, then suddenly becomes a dark comedy.
If it weren't for Alistair Sim's brilliance, I'd have turned this off several times. Every scene with Sim is magical and original.
Putting aside all the weird 70's crumminess, it's hard to warm up to characters with awful wigs spewing Shakespearean-like... more

You will love Vivien Leigh, not be crazy about Warren Beatty (but he is beautiful) and love the photography in this movie.
