| 2. Kill Bill - Volume One |
|
Starring: Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Daryl Hannah, Michael Madsen, Lucy Liu Directed By: Quentin Tarantino April 13, 2004
For as much violence and gore as is contained in Quentin Tarantino's FOURTH FILM (as he so gratuitously informs us in the opening credits!), I think that KILL BILL VOLUME ONE is a great example of the "less is more" philosophy of filmmaking. Of all of Tarantino's films, this one has the least dialogue. In fact, it is really minimalist. I don't think there is one wasted line in the whole film!... more

| 3. Battle Royale: Director's Cut (Collector's Edition) |
|
Starring: Takeshi Kitano, Chiaki Kuriyama, Tatsuya Fujiwara Directed By: Kinji Fukasaku June 15, 2004
I had seen this movie before at my one friends house and didn't really get a chance to pay attention to it, so i decided to buy it. I was suprised greatly at how great this movie really was. It was just remarkably scripted and the acting was extremely good, even when it was going over the top with it's dark humor (Like the cookies) and the out of this world violence. Really the only things I don't... more

| 4. The Sky Crawlers [Blu-ray] |
|
Starring: Rinko Kikuchi, Chiaki Kuriyama, Shosuke Tanihara, Bryce Hitchcock, Ryo Kase Directed By: Mamoru Oshii May 26, 2009
I can't believe all of the negative reviews on Amazon for The Sky Crawlers. It is an incredible movie and one of Oshii's best in my opinion. I'm not going to go into a lot of detail, but the other more extensive positive reviews on here say it all. It is a slowly paced movie but I didn't get bored at all or ever see any pacing problems. I guess some people just didn't expect what they got from it... more

| 9. Last Quarter |
|
Starring: Chiaki Kuriyama, Hiroki Narimiya, Tomoka Kurokawa, Motoki Ochiai, Simon Britton Directed By: Ken Nikai July 04, 2006
I bought this movie because I am a fan of Hyde, but it is definitely worth watching even if you're not a Hyde fan. Last Quarter is a tragic supernatual love story about lost love, life, death, and rebirth. The cinematography and music are high-quality and beautiful. The acting is even better than most other Japanese movies I've seen. The actors fit the characters very well. I was close to crying at... more

The Great Yokai(Monsters) War!!! Really interesting movie, I first saw it in Japan and looked for it everywhere, and Amazon was the only place that had it. The monsters are a little scary so may not be suitable for some young kids. Rent it or buy it, it's worth it... more
