The puppetry is stunning, the effects are amazing, the child actor is really great... but the movie is depressing! I watched the movie just to be sure it is appropriate for my neice and found the story uncaptivating, boring and sad. I made the mistake of purchasing the dvd and will sell it ASAP. i recieved this dvd on blu-ray and its not widescreen as the description says its pan and scan also the bonus cartoons are poor quality wish warnerbro would put both wide and pan and scan on the same dvd like they do the standard deff. blu-ray has the room for both they can hold 50 gig i heard and they should have the whole cartoon series on there too.If ya like hd and widescreen don't buy this.wb... more

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite movies and definetely my favorite stop-motion. Although recent efforts are quiet outstanding (Corpse Bride, Coraline) none of this has suprassed this masterpiece. I rented this from a Redbox, expecting a fairly entertaining flick after reading the summary. However, this movie is truly wonderful and deserves all the positive ratings. So many movies throw in smut scenes and crap like that, but this movie was actually very clean and kid-safe, which is a fresh breath in today's society where people slap sex onto things to sell them.
