Description: Capturing American radio airwaves with his stunning acoustic masterpieces, "The Year of the Cat" and Time Passages", Al Stewart is one of music's most accomplished and underrated six string troubadours. Heavily influenced by Bob Dylan, Stewart's silky sweet voice and intricate songcraft is a remarkable testament to his prodigious talent. This MusikLaden Extra includes such Stewart hits as On The Border, Time Passages, Year of the Cat, So Ho (Needless To Say), Palace of Versailles, Valentina Way and Song On The Radio.
45 Minutes Is Not Enough - I Want More! There are very few performances of Al Stewart inmortalized on DVD or video.
The video and audio quality is good for a concert taken place over 25 years ago. But, most important, is the performance of the artist, and Al Stewart has a way of elevating the audience to a much higher level, and that's what I percieved while watching such great concert.
Great songs, great performance. Don't miss this opportunity to adquire a rare gem. Once you see it, and enjoy the songs, you will want more of Al.
Enjoyable 1979 Performance by Al for German Television I purchased this DVD a few years ago in anticipation of purchasing a DVD player someday. The DVD sat on a shelf until last week when it was the first DVD I played on my newly acquired DVD player.
I enjoyed the performance thoroughly. The video was satisfactory although the sound in some sections was distorted. The sound issues seemed to be mostly toward the beginning of the DVD. The DVD video quality seemed quite good to me. Since this is a reproduction of an original television broadcast, the original media was more than likely videotape, as opposed to 16 or 35mm motion picture film. The DVD quality is about what I would expect from a reproduction of a television broadcast videotape.
I wish there were more satisfactory quality visual recordings of Al's work during the 1970s, '80s and '90s. Unfortunately, everything else I have seen to date is amateurish and poor quality.
In summary, I recommend this DVD to anyone who appreciates Al's work.

What I'd do for 45 minutes more! I'd say most other reviews have nailed it pretty well. But, you watch this and when your screen goes blank you say "give me more Year of the Cat, Past, Present, Future or Modern Times." (And even prior) You become so aware of the body of work he had those long 23 years ago, that this could have made for an incredible concert back then. Watch this with your very favorite significant other, adult beverage and all your CDs because you will want to have an evening with Al . . . . and wonder how all that time flew by us so fast!
Surprisingly good quality for the period Al Stewart is almost always referred to as underrated, and he is with the general public; but, everyone who goes back to discover his many terrific and brilliant recordings will appreciate this "souvenir" from his most "pop" period. The quality is actually better than I expected it to be. I would give it 5 stars except for it's a bit short. It is at least 4 stars, however, and well worth owning.
Blast from the Past Captured VERY live at the time of "Time Passages" (an era Al admits was his most commercial) this video is nothing less than a time capsule, recording Al and Peter White at a moment in time that no longer exists anywhere. Pre-MTV, this show makes you feel like you are sitting in the audience. No "special effects" and no announcer -- just good music. The audio and video quality is fine -- so sit back and ENJOY the show!
