By: Adam Warren Publisher: Wildstorm April 01, 2003
Although Amazon lists this album as created by Adam Warren, only the text is by Warren, while the pictures are drawn by a host of rather mediocre artists. Most of the time, I found myself thinking how hilarious this could have been if drawn by Warren himself, but now most gags fall to the ground with a thud.
With many different artists, the graphical style is changing too much, and none... more

By: Gail Simone Publisher: Wildstorm July 04, 2007
What a tremendous letdown this book was. The dialogue was atrocious, the character development was virtually nil, and many aspects of the story weren't even explained very well.
And you know something is horribly wrong when the main villains are ten times more interesting than the heroes. Case in point, Dr. Cross and his lovely assistant, Megan. In fact, the least interesting aspect... more

By: Adam Warren, Rick Mays, Jason Martin Publisher: Marvel Comics November 09, 2005
In this book Adam Warren goes wild with science fiction concepts and crazy comic book science. A group of robots - the products of a black-ops top secret experiment - travel the country seeking out and destroying other black-ops top secret experiments.
The problem is the characters never really come to life. Except for their new member 'Stem Cell' the others all speak in the same sort... more

By: John Layman, Scott Lobdell Publisher: Wildstorm October 01, 2000
I've always loved Gen13, and I was very delighted with this volume, which contains issues 45-50. The writer, Scott Lobdell, is pretty decent, trying to revamp the series by bringing it back to its comedic roots. He succeeds more or less, but while the dialogue is actually quite funny, Lobdell overkills it by narrating each issue way too comedically. Every page has a narrator box with some sort of joke... more

By: Chris Claremont, Ale Garza Publisher: Wildstorm October 01, 2003
The "Gen13" comic series had a couple things going for it -- two of them notably exposed through the oft-torn costume of team leader Caitlin Fairchild -- but the series ultimately fizzled and lost reader interest. Rather than build on the title's strengths and improve the stories, WildStorm opted to kill off the entire team (except for Fairchild, who was much to cheesecakey to die) and start fresh... more

By: Adam Warren By: Adam Warren Publisher: Dark Horse November 18, 2009
In a superhero world where being popular and cool is more important than saving the world, this just had to come up: Super Hero Oscars! It's a glorifiyed popularity contest where all of the superheroes have gotten together to make Emp miserable. Amazingly, this volume is where Emp gets to really shine as superheroine. I'm not spoiling anything, but this volume has more than a few interesting surprises... more

By: Adam Warren By: Adam Warren Publisher: Dark Horse March 19, 2008
One of the first of the American manga-imitators, Warren's work stands out from the pack because of his writing, his own, personal knack for simultaneously celebrating, parodying and exploiting multiple elements of pop culture (superhero genre tropes, cyberpunk sci-fi techno-babble, good girl art, hong kong action films, etc.) often on the same page, and even in the same panel. (In this his work recalls'... more
