| 4. Astonishing X-Men (X-Men: The Age of Apocalypse Gold Deluxe Edition) |
|
By: Scott Lobdell, Joe Madureira Publisher: Marvel Entertainment Group August 01, 1995
This is hands down the finest piece of comic art I have ever read. I can remember sitting with issues of this arc and being mesmerized by Joe Maduereira's amalgamation of Eastern/Western art styles. The coloring is brilliant, the characters are given interesting new personalities and pasts, and the costumes designs are fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone who considers themself a serious appreciator... more

By: Larry Hama, Adam Kubert, Karl Kesel Publisher: Marvel Entertainment Group September 01, 1995
When the Legion Quest storyline ended, an alternate universe was created due to the fact that Legion went back in time to kill Magneto but accidently killed Charles Xavier. Since Xavier died, there was no X-Men to stop Apocalypse from taking over America and most of the world. This alternate reality, The Age of Apocalypse, put all the regular X-books on hold for four issues and replaced them with they're... more

Welcome to hell on earth. North America is ruled by an evil mutant called Apocalypse. His kingdom only lives by one rule: Survivial of the fittest. Humans are regarded as the lower class and even not all mutants will be survive in this world. This all happened because Professor Charles Xavier never existed. | 7. Hellboy, Vol. 8: Darkness Calls |
|
By: Mike Mignola, Duncan Fegredo, Dave Stewart Publisher: Dark Horse Comics June 09, 2008
"Darkness calls" is a tough book. Here Hellboy engages in a grand fight against "Koshchei the Deathless". The fight takes place in no other than hell. And Koshchei is literally deathless (and we find Hellboy is too). Mignola's mingleling with mythology is facinating. Fegredo's artwork and Stewart's coloring are superb (if you like style you will like this)h. All the characters have supernatural motives... more

| 8. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Graphic Novel) |
|
By: Eric Shanower, L. Frank Baum Publisher: Marvel Books September 02, 2009
Don't ask why, but I was browsing around the Marvel Comics website, and I came across this title, and I am glad that I did. The drawings in this graphic novel are very unique which makes the storyline that much more readable. I think that all of the characters are special, and that each one has their own unique style to the creators interpretation. After all that is what having an imagination is all... more

| 9. All Star Superman, Vol. 2 |
|
By: Grant Morrison Publisher: DC Comics February 16, 2010
Again, like in my review for volume 1, I don't understand the fuzz on this series. This whole All Star Superman arc, from begining to end, was a complete waste of time for me. I didn't foud it funny, nor exiting nor interesting nor anything. This is a complete overated work form Grant Morrison.
Maybe I'm not just smart enough to undertand it. I liked the last showdown with Lex Luthor... more

Peter David, The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born (Marvel, 2007)
Of all of Stephen King's impressive body of work, The Gunslinger has always been one of the pieces at the top of my "man, I'd like to see a graphic novel adaptation of this" wish list. (The other? "Gray Matter", a story from Night Shift.) When I found out that Peter David, of the brilliant (but short lived) Fallen Angel, would... more
