Not for everyone, but still Star Wars The Clone Wars is George Lucas' latest attempt to capitalize on the Star Wars franchise and not a bad attempt at that. Since this is animated the cast are able to fully utilize the arsenals at their disposal, and boy do they. The story goes a little something like this: Count Dooku has kidnapped Jaba's son in an effort to frame the Jedi and gain control of the space around the outer rim. Anakin is sent to retrieve the little slug affectionately named "Stinky" with his padawan Ahsoka Tano. From the beginning these two have more of a brother/sister relationship than a teacher/student one, but it does work for Anakin. As expected the war never stops in this film and double cross after double cross the Jedi finally succeed in the mission. I enjoyed it, but I can easily see that this film might not be for everyone.
Great story begining. I really liked the tv show and the movie is a great start to that.
Ehhh My son was very excited to get this movie, but only watched it once. It is a bit boring, but maybe that is just my take on it. Kids may enjoy it, but son (who is 9) did not, and he is a big Star Wars fan. The animation is good, just the story line dragged on a bit.
O.K. start on the new Star Wars animated series, but the six live-action films were better. This is where the all new Star Wars animated series, The Clone Wars, begins. It is where the son of Jabba the Hutt was kidnapped and the Jedi Order was framed, thanks to Count Dooku. Anakin Skywalker begins training a padawan of his own, a female called Ahsoka Tano. They, along with Obi-Wan Kenobi search for Jabba's son, Rotta the Huttlet and hunt down the mastermind of this conspiracy. An animated theatrical film in the Star Wars series is relatively new, so the animation doesn't suit a film very well. The hair looks like it was molded from clay. The environments were colorful, but the character animation was a little bit bland. It also had a slightly lower budget than A New Hope, as well as the shortest running time. Kevin Kiner was alright, but I missed John Williams. It was O.K., but the weakest of all films in the series. Even The Phantom Menace was a little better. It did have a decent storyline and a few actors from the live-action films, those being Anthony Daniels, Matthew Wood, Samuel L. Jackson, and Christopher Lee. The oddest part is that it was distributed by Warner Bros. instead of 20th Century Fox. It does kind of make sense because Cartoon Network airs the animated series. If you are a true Star Wars fan like me, rent this pilot film to the anime if you want.
Good start for the TV series Not really a movie, but episode 0 of a TV series. And the TV series is great!
