You're paying for a subscription, not a program ^ I've been a steady Norton user on our computers for more than 10 years, and many times NAV has intercepted or neatly cleaned up something nasty. Unfortunately like other software companies they have over time become increasingly grasping, and more annoying. Years ago you could renew your subscription for a modest amount. Then they raised the renewal price to equal or exceed the price of a new program. You could always continue to use the program though, even if your definitions were out of date.
Now, they've taken away even that. When your subscription expires, so does the program. Actually it turns into nagware constantly demanding that you renew. So what you're really buying is a subscription, and nothing more.
This is from the same company that doesn't let you turn off outbound email scanning for your own good ? What crap.
This was a good product while it worked, but I'm tired of paying more and getting less with Norton and will NOT be "renewing" with them again.
Ruined my Machine ^ After my Kapersky software expired I decided to try Norton again. What a disaster. The whole machine froze. I had to remove the battery and pull the plug from the wall to switch the machine off. When I put it on again. Same Problem...Hardrive working at full capacity and machine frozen. I went into safe mode and then MSCONFIG and removed one item at a time. I even removed the FIREWALL. It made no difference. Then I removed Norton and the machine shot back to life.
What a horrible experience and what a waste of money. I lost sleep as I thought my Hard Drive had crashed before I used MSCONFIG.
I won't buy this product ever again. EVER.
Got a trojan! ^ I got one of those fake antivirus trojans that wont leave you alone and Norton didnt even notice it was there! It had blocked several attempts from entering my computer but yesterday all of a sudden my computer was infected! Tried scanning but it didnt notice it was there! If Norton was a condom, I'd be itching right about now!
works fine ^ everything came just as promised still in the package. it works great. so far no problems.
