great earphones, one warning ^ Look -- all the good stuff that all the other reviewers have shared is acurate (in my opinion). These have the best sound I have ever experienced on headphones ever. So why add another review (and not 5 stars)? I have to say they cable noise can be REALLY distracting. If the cable is not bouncing around (sitting or standing still on subway, train, whatever) you are fine, and the beautiful sound blocks out all distractions but for me even walking (forget running or the gym) produces such strong cable noise I have trouble listening.
Ultimate Ears are just that! ^ Great product. Bought two pair previously for my daughters, and they loved them. Glad that I spent the money to get a pair of my own. Amazing sound quality and great sound isolation. Three different size cushions for better fit.
Very good ^ Overall an excellent set of earphones...an upgrade from my klipsch custom 2 and shure e3c; great midrange and soundstage compared to some of the others...can wear for a long time without fatigue, though sound isolation isn't as good as the shures (for plane rides, subway, etc). What separates these for me is that with most higher-end earphones, regularly encoded mp3s sound shoddy enough to ditch them completely for CDs (and lossless, SACD, DVD-A and blu-ray). But with these, there's just enough smoothing over of the digital signal to make even 128kbps mp3s sound decent enough for general use. That speaks to the versatility of the earphones - good enough for reference-level recordings, but it won't leave your mp3 player sitting in the dust either.
great buy ^ These sound like heaven. The best head phones ever. They cost a lot but are well worth it.
it sounds terrible ^ I bought 2 products from Ultimate Ears to compare them.
I connected both to my MP3 player and let them "burned in" for 24 hours before testing them.
-Ultimate Ears SuperFi 3 Studio The sound is perfect. It doesn't put out a lot of bass but it's right where I want it. Treble and high sounds nice and very accurate. Very very uncomfortable to wear. I've tried all the tips that come with it but I still couldn't get it to fit right.
-Ultimate Ears SuperFi 5 Noise Isolating Earphones Way too much treble. Bass is too fake, my $20 Smokin' Bud produces more "true bass" than these. Very comfy. I put them on and 5 minutes later I didn't even realize that I have them on. Be able to wear it any way you want is a plus. I'm not a fan of wrapping the earphones cores around my ears like the SuperFi 3.
After few days of switching back and forth. I decided to return the SuperFi 5. I love the sound of the SuperFi 3 eventhough it's painful to get it on my ears right.
