Simple concept, overpriced item ^ This type of play gym is a 21st century invention and it has the 21st century pricing to match. I compared several brands (bright starts, fisher price & baby einstein). They're all expensive and pretty much have similar concepts, colorful mats, hanging toys connected to the arches and some sort of guarantee to occupy your child's curiosity. I was so excited to have my son use this. We tested it in the store and he was quite pleased with it. When we got home he hurt himself twice while playing in the mat. Once when a toy sprung up and down and hit his face. the next time when he was on his stomach, clearly the mat is not adequately padded for floor work. Never the less he's very amused by the mirror and the rattling toy. He also loves the teether. My biggest disappointment is that I can't really leave him to play by himself because I have to make sure none of the toys hit him again! I don't regret buying it for the novelty and opportunity to see him explore each toy, but I don't think this is the safest play gym. I don't know how the soft arches passed the safety board. it's not the safest toy around. Always keep an eye on your child when he's using this gym.
Item Pictured is NOT Backyard Gym ^ The item pictured and being sold is not the Bright Starts Backyard Gym. The item pictured and being sold is the Hop Along Friends Gym which sells for a great deal less (and contains fewer play options)than the Backyard Gym. I have notified Amazon of this error, but they will not correct the listing error.
froggy dies out pretty soon ^ I've had this since my twins were about three months old, and now they're seven months. They still like it, but it was kind of annoying when the froggy died out after just two months of use. It might have been better if the battery could've been replaceable.
