Fantastic Stories from a Legendary Aurthor This is a great dvd set from the acting to its stories.For not having the big budget of a movie film they are exceptional a must have and a must see.
Horatio Hornblower a winner I have loved Gregory Peck (a great actor and one of the best) as Captain Horatio Hornblower, but Ian Gruffud, surpasses him in the role. The stories were excellent particularly the first episode.
This is a must see for those who love great plots, excellent acting, and beautiful productions. This is definitely not your typical Hollywood garbage they are putting out today, done by adolescent minded androids who run the U.S. movie industry.
Great series! Great series! Watched in one weekend... give yourself plenty of time, once you start you will have to watch them all straight through.

The best television series ever It's hard to believe that this was made for television. The sets are extraordinary and the acting is impeccable. I bought this on a recommendation from a friend and after watching it, watched it again with my 12 year old son. Horatio is a highly moral character who chooses to do the right thing instead of the easy thing. The storylines are exciting and fun to watch. The single disappointment is that there are only eight movies.
GREAT SERIES, worth every penny Ok, so I bought this about two months ago for around $35... so I don't know why the price has gone up but it is a great boxed set and woth every penny. It even includes the two most recent episodes/movies, that netflix doesn't have (although they are the weakest of the series). The story pulls you in and entertains both young and old.
Also, if you haven't seen it yet check out your local library.
