Product Description: Warner Brothers Fool's Gold (Blu-ray) Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson go for the gold (and the diamonds, emeralds and rubies) as a just-divorced couple who bicker and banter their way through an adventure - and laugh-packed undersea treasure hunt. McConaughey is Finn, in love with his ex (Hudson) and in deep with gangster Bigg Bunny. After eight years of searching, Finn gets a clue to the whereabouts of the Queen's Dowry, a fabulous fortune that mysteriously disappeared in the Caribbean in 1715. Now allhe has to do is get the gold, get the girl and get going before Bigg Bunny gets him. Directed by Andy Tennant (Hitch), "Fool's Gold" glitters with danger, action, romance, comedy, great one-liners ? and a great time to be had by all.
Amazon.com: The "gold" of the title refers to an elusive pirate's booty, but it just as easily could mean the sun-washed glistening shores of Florida, or the sumptuously tanned bodies of its appealing stars, Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. The whole film is awash in golden highlights, and the scenery and cinematography make the experience akin to taking a tropical holiday. Hudson and McConaughey reprise the chemistry they first exhibited in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, sparking and tangling and kvetching, while all the while the audience knows, of course, they adore each other and are perfect for each other. McConaughey is a dreamer, on the trail of a sunken pirate's treasure, and Hudson his now-ex-wife, a historian who prefers life to be a little more sedate. McConaughey, as Finn, delivers impassioned speeches to Hudson, as Tess, saying, "You want history? It's in the ocean, lady!" Before you can say Romancing the Stone, Tess and Finn are grudgingly reunited in search of the booty. If the plot doesn't contain many surprises, the froth of the stars' chemistry is amiable and makes for a perfect date movie. Scuba divers may find McConaughey's antics below the surface to be wildly unbelievable and usually fatal, but in the end viewers will root for him to surface, and recapture the heart of his lady love. --A.T. Fool's Gold This movie was awesome - it was so good to see Matthew McConaughey & Kate Hudson together again. I loved them when they played together in "How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days" & I loved them in "Fool's Gold". This movie was sooooooooooo funny - a wonderful movie!!!! I would recommend this movie to anyone. It is such a joy seeing two actors that can work so well together as these two actors can. Once again this is a movie no one should miss watching!!!!

Fluffy romp--should be watched in the winter Admittedly, this is a contrived, predictable mystery, but that proves to be the focus rather than the romantic comedy that was promoted. But in the spirit of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, it's a spunky contrived, predictable mystery. No, the characters were not all complex, but at least the powers that be went to the trouble of making them entertaining and personable.
I liked the idea of looking for sunken treasure. I liked the upbeat island soundtrack. I liked the funny characters. I liked the pretty scenes and the silly lines. I liked the random explosions and fight scenes, as pleasantly ridiculous as they were.
Kate and Matthew have the chemistry they had in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days". They have the sunny dispositions to pull off a mindless-but-fun storyline and to work with a wacky cast.
It's mind candy in all its fluffy goodness.
Not what I expected. This movie was so-so. I watched it on a plane and although it had me captured at first-Matthew and his fantastic body!- I somehow fell asleep through half of it. Now I was tired, but even so, if it was exciting enough-although the history lesson they provided was interesting-it should have kept me awake. I have to say that I'm not that upset that I missed a lot of it, because I quickly caught up in the end-with Matthew landing a plane in the water, a talent he never possessed, which it proved because it also crashed. Kinda bland, kinda silly. Overall, hum-drum!
Really enjoyed the show! DVD's that I order from Amazon always arrive in excellent condition. This one was no exception. We watched it right away.
