Amazon.com: After Rocky and its sequels, Sylvester Stallone cast about for another character that would bring him the same kind of box-office hit--and found it in disillusioned Vietnam vet John Rambo in First Blood, a solid little action thriller. So when all else failed, Stallone went back to the same well in hopes of recapturing the same commercial success. Which this film did. But where First Blood was a no-nonsense thriller that pitted Stallone against a worthy (and not necessarily bad) Brian Dennehy, this one is a sadistic chest-thumper in which Rambo gets to go back to Vietnam: ostensibly, he's there to rescue missing POWs, but in fact the movie was a lame excuse for him to refight the Vietnam War--and win. Audiences ate up the cruel Vietcong (and their Russian manipulators) and Stallone's bogus heroics, but it was strictly by-the-numbers action. --Marshall Fine
all in blue ray glory really a good remake of Rambo 2, the best in the series in my opinion. clear and fine in HD. the only step back i had was my wish to see arabic subtitle, so i can i enjoy it with friends who do not speak english. but i guess thats the same problem with all new blue ray titles.
He Went Home! A pretty good sequel. Get the blu ray. Great picture & sound. I'm sure anyone can enjoy it even more.
Silly, entertaining and as realistic as any Jerry Bruckheimer movie This film has some really funny action but it's all pretty flat as far as reality. No woes - it does what it says on the tin. Lots of crash bang wallop and no shortage of naughty soldiers for Sly to reduce to atoms. Watch out for the world's silliest dogfight and the snottiest Ruskie going. Great fun.
Pretty Good Quality Not to expect too much from a film that old. It surprisingly watches really well. Mostly was looking for just smoothed edges. The movie itself is a classic.
The quality is watchable for blue ray. It probably makes out better than some movies because it is just normal. No crazy special effects. If there were they were not put in by computer.
It's John Rambo before he got all huge.
Better than the original, if that's possible! Make sure you saw my "First Blood" review, first. Now I know I said "First Blood" was awesome, but this one is, oh, I can't even discrive in words how great it is. And you're probibly thinking, how can you top the original? Well in my "First Blood" review, I said Rambo killing cops and shooting out street lights was disappointing, to say the least. But in this one he grabs a machine gun and kills mercenaries in a jungle in Vietnam. There was so much shooting, so much falling mercenaries, so on and so on. Of course, Rambo grabs an M-60 like in the original, but, this time he gets an M60-E3. And guess what, he acually kills bad guys with it. At the end he uses it to shoot all the computers. So once agian he uses it to destroy heavy machinary. But he also used it to kill bad guys. I don't know why people say this was not as good as "First Blood," I just don't see it. So see this one too, trust me, you won't be disappointed.
