Product Description: Schoenhut My First Piano II A Schoenhut Toy Piano is the perfect choice for a toddler's first piano. It comes in a lovely red finish and is the ideal size for the child. Schoenhut pianos are all sized to work with the child and to help develop both hand-eye coordination and musical creativity. The Schoenhut toy piano is chromatically tuned to produce lovely, chime-like notes. There are hammers inside of the Schoenhut piano which strike with precision on German steel music rods. A removable color strip fits behind the keys to guide small fingers from chord to chord. Schoenhut pianos include the chart so the child can take it to adult sized keyboard down the road. This Schonehut piece teaches children proper finger stretch from the very beginning.
not just a toy ^ I bought the litle red piano as a Christmas present for my granddaughter after seeing how much fun she had banging on a real piano at Thanksgiving. I had to wrap it right away because my husband couldn't stop playing it. I was impressed by how sturdy it is and how it plays real notes. Also, it has no batteries or flashing lights. The only caution is to place it against a wall or furniture if the child is very small and uses it as a prop to stand up. BTW, she loves it & "plays" it every day.
Awesome little piano, Baby loves it! ^ I ordered this piano for my 1 year old daughter for christmas, and it is by far her favorite present. At first she was quite rough with the keys and I was worried it would get damaged but she quickly calmed down and plays much more delicately. Since she "opened" it she has been enamored and consistently crawls back to it to play a little song for me. I was concerned she was too young for this piano but I think it suits her quite well. Perfect size for a little one, and looks and feels sturdy and high quality. The only complaint I have is I THOUGHT i purchased the red piano with gold logo and mine showed up with a white logo... Really not a big deal for us though. I love this piano and like that it's not just a toy, it's educational too. All in all perfect for our little whites-stripes-loving, indie-rock-jamming little girl.
If you want me to... FOC!!! ^ Yes, THE FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS PIANO!!!! That alone earns it 5 stars. I actually bought this for an adult friend who's a fan of the show, but she might have to fight my niece for it because she fell in love with it too when she saw it. I'm a huge believer in teaching music to children. This piano is a great size for a toddler (or adult) and seems to be very solidly constructed. Not 100% in tune, but very close considering it's a toy. I'd trust it to last several years, and will probably end up buying one for my niece next Christmas too. Haven't played the other model w/ fewer keys, but I think this model must be better.
Great for future Piano Players ^ I got this piano for my grandson. I hope that someday he will play the piano. It's really pretty as a decorator item also. Beautiful finish.
No batteries required ^ Consider this as an alternative to an electronic keyboard toy. It's nearly impossible to find a musical toy that doesn't take batteries nowadays! This toy is true to key, has a bright tone, and is fun to play with. My 1-year-old niece loves to pound on it, and I'm hoping that she'll learn a little something about music from it as well. It appears to be well-constructed and a high quality piece of equipment.
