Product Description: Take document scanning to a whole new level with the ScanSnap S300M mobile scanning solution. Whether its digitizing those receipts, bank statements or term papers at home or capturing mission critical documents on a business trip, ScanSnap takes scanning beyond the office and into your world. It's the world's smallest duplex ADF scanner designed to provide best-in-class performance inside or outside of the home or office.
Just great for home office. Elegant, small, reliable, and a little slow. Overall, this is a great scanner for home applications. The design is elegant and very small, about the size of some laser-printer cartridges. It tucks away very easily when not in use. The feeder is reliable. I've had it about three months and have had no problems. I use it in combination with Yojimbo for an almost-paperless home office.
The scanner is not adequate for business application, though. Sometimes I'll bring files home from work to scan and archive, and the S300M is just too slow for bulk scanning. Of course, that's not what it's designed for. It delivers completely on what is promised and what it's meant for.
The software is adequate, but a bit unintuitive and cumbersome. The toolbar icon is helpful. The software is my sole reason for not giving this thing five stars. I wish I could give it 4.5.
As long as your needs are modest and your speed expectations aren't too high, it's a great home scanner that's solidly built and well designed.
Wonderful little scanner.....built for a Mac I've read reviews and even heard this scanner mentioned several times on podcasts that I frequent. It was one of those products that I had to ask myself "How can it be as great as people are saying it is?" after all, it's only a scanner for goodness sakes. I don't know about you...but I don't generally get that excited about scanners, at least not scanners that are primarily designed for document scanning. This scanner has excited me beyond words. It is amazingly good. It does exactly what it's intended to do, scan documents, duplex if necessary, format documents accordingly and convert to PDF for final output. It does all of this with one push of the button! And did I mention that setup was just as easy? Install the ScanSnap software (Cardiris software is optional) plug the scanner in and start scanning. Results of all the scans I have done so far have been 100% clear and accurate. From business cards to grocery receipts to monthly bills and bank statements. This things handles them all and does it without any or very little input from me. One suggestion I would make if you're planning on purchasing this scanner, check out Fujitsu's website for current promotions and rebates. Amazon has a great price on the scanner but I found that Fujitsu is now offering a free copy of ReadIris scan software with the purchase of the S300M. and you can still buy the scanner from Amazon and be eligible for the rebate. This scanner is the one to buy if you're serious about scanning documents and need some OCR capabilities as well. No, it doesn't scan my photo's nearly as well as my trusty Epson V700 does but that's not what it's there for. It's there for quick and easy scans of doc's. Love this scanner and give it 5 stars and two thumbs up!
Good Value High quality product. My only gripe, if I had to name one ... is that, while the software is good overall .. it could be more feature rich. Having said that .. it proves to be worth the money.
Best document scanner for the Mac Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1IXI929X4XWN9 If you want to really get rid of paper -- bills, receipts, statements, this is the scanner to get. It is fast and easy to use. See my video review, or read the detail review on my website.
The first scanner that actually works. Great product -- it is the first scanner where someone clearly took the time to make sure that usability is great. No more fiddling with those stupid brightness/contrast controls, endless switching between grayscale and color, no more waiting for "preview". The S300M serves a single purpose -- get your documents into PDF files, quickly, with a single button press -- and it does that extremely well. Fujitsu clearly wanted to provide a solution of the "just works" kind.
Fujitsu competitors should take notice -- it isn't just the hardware that counts. Software is part of the experience.
