Online Sony has stated that the PS3 will have similar online connectivity and services as the next generation of Xbox Live. Calling it "an always on, always connected device," SCEI's chief technical officer Masa Chatani said the PS3 would be constantly in touch with a "PlayStation World" network "fundamentally based on community, communication commerce, and content." Holiday 2008, the year of the PS3! So far so good! Metal Gear Solid 4 is a tough game, but the presentation and graphical prowess of the title are amazing.
The PS3 will really begin to shine later this year with the release of Little Big Planet, Bioshock and Fallout 3.
Also, this is the last PS3 to feature backwards compatibility with both PS2 and PS1 games. Get it while you can!
Good Buy.. Playstation 3 is worth buying...though i had to buy a new 7.1 receiver and a new subwoofer for it to really appreciate the high def. Blue Ray movies...the grafix and sound is really great...good investment!
PS3 and great Sony support PS3 is everything as advertised and more, Sony's customer service is the best I've ever called. Got a live person very quickly, they walked me through set up with the STR 720 receiver I bought to drive the audio/video, incredible movie experience on my plasma 1080p. Haven't played the game, plan to sell it.
Playstation 3 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 Pack, Video Gaming Perfected Since ordering this bundle I have yet to find another video game title with as much action and emotion, with as much realism as MGS 4. The voice acting and animation is very convincing - the most convincing, in fact. Environments are spectacularly detailed from grassy trails to snowy hills. Truly, the Playstation 3's processing power is breathtaking. This bundle even comes with the SIXAXIS DUALSHOCK for extreme realism. (Whether you want to tack on an intercooler is up to you. It will keep it cool on the inside and running smoothly for hours. Nyko is about to release a second version of its ill-fated predecessor.)
Blu-Ray movies and games, 1080P maximum resolution. Note that you will have you buy an HDMI cable SEPARATELY! That was a bit of a pain but well worth it. Don't get ripped off - there are some great deals on HDMI cables on amazon.com. Don't pay $70+ when you can pay -$20 for the same cable. Just make sure you manually configure your HDMI connection under display settings to set the PS3 to your screen's maximum resolution. Warning: some games do in fact look real, as though they will suck you in. Others, well, just be careful to read as many reviews as possible, and look closely at the screen-shots on the web. High polygon count, high-definition textures and 3D shaders is what it's all about.
I want to take a moment to recommend a few games for the PS3 that I found quite enjoyable. Drake's Fortune is a must, with tremendous replay value. Ratchet and Clank is highly addictive and progressive in terms of pushing the visual boundaries. Folklore is pure realistic eye-candy wrapped in an enchanting storyline. Silent Hill 5 and Bioshock for PS3 are coming very soon, and I look forward to their graceful debuts on the console. I mention all of these titles because they, along with many others, push the PS3's processing power further than previously thought possible, and with the highest resolution available. Best thrills for your new multimedia monster. Will last for the gaming industry's ground-breaking years to come.
