Product Description: MEZCO TOYZ proudly announces the first ever collectible figures from NBCâs #1 rated, Emmy Award winning, smash-hit TV series; HEROES. The epic drama chronicling the lives of ordinary people with extraordinary abilities has finally been captured in fully articulated 7â scale action figures by Mezcoâs award winning artists. Featuring highly detailed sculptures and amazingly show-accurate accessories, the 1st set features Peter the flying empathic mimic, Mohinder the scientist, Hiro the time and space bending salaryman, Claire the cheerleader, and Sylar the brain collecting villain. Collect them all and save the world!
Toy collectors rejoice! Here's the villan we love to hate. To begin, this is a FANTASTIC likeness of Gabriel Gray, a.k.a. Sylar.
The face has a hint of his 5 o'clock shadow, along with a few battle scars. The cap that comes with the figurine fits perfectly, either in forward or backward style. There are points of movement on both elbows, shoulders and knees, and the head can be moved in virtually any direction. To my surprise, both hands can be removed and replaced with the shooting hand. The brain, well.....it's a brain.
The painting that comes with the figure is a 3x5 replica of the Isaac Mendez painting from season one of Heroes.
However - this is clearly a figure for collectors, and I'll tell you why:
(1) The paint chips easily. The hands, coat and brain are particularly susceptible to damage, even when removing them from the packaging.
(2) Since there are no articulation points at the upper legs, this figure doesn't have a lot of movement and isn't much fun for the younger crowd.
(3) With 4 small pieces for young children to choke on, this figure is definitely not meant for young children.
(4) If you're looking for a child's toy, I wouldn't recommend a replica of a super villian with a penchant for cutting open people's heads - but hey, that's just me....
All in all, though it may not be very educational or durable, it's a great little figurine, and other Heroes like Peter Petrelli, Claire Bennett, and Hiro Nakamura will definitely be added to my collection.
If you like collectible figurines like this, I would highly recommend anything from Todd McFarlane, since his figurines have the most minute details - some examples are Jack from LOST, or Elvis.
