I love Jillian's tough love approach on The Biggest Loser. I got her DVD b/c I believe in her and I'm glad I did. This 30 Day Shred is 20 mins of intensity. I've burned easily 180 calories on just level one. I hate spending hours working out so this quick punch is enough to keep my weight in check and if I would stop eating such large portions I would actually lose weight!! Simple: normal portions + daily exercise = weight loss. Get a heart rate monitor!!!

I love this video! At first I didn't know how I was going to burn enough in 20 minutes, but WOW. This girl is a beast. She knows how to work you out fast! Its awesome! Nothing is difficult to do, it is just the intensity and speed you do it at. Great for beginners to advanced.

This is the kind of workout I've been looking for! I'm an advanced exerciser who began working out 17 years ago with The Firm and moved on to Cathe Friedrich and Jari Love. I love intense exercise and need it to stay in shape. I also use it as a natural anti-depressant. However, I'm a single mom with an intense day job and am also a professional belly dancer (meaning, occasionally my busy schedule lets me take a gig!). I'm 49 years old, and don't have the genetics to look hot in a belly dance costume without regular workouts! I try to do an intense workout every morning but have less than half an hour. I've resorted to doing half of a Jari Love or Cathe Friedrich workout.

But Jillian has solved my problem! With 3 circuits of strength, cardio, and abs, and a short warm-up and cool-down, I get it all in 22 minutes. Her workouts also require little equipment. I took the DVD with me out of state to watch my sister's kids, and did it every day in the living room, using canned tomatoes and laundry detergent as my hand-weights! One thing about this video is that it doesn't give any guidance on weights; I imagine they assume exercisers will start with low weight. The types of moves and activities remind me of Phy. Ed. classes in grade school; they're different than what you'll find on a lot of workout DVDs. I do more stretching after the workout is over.

One caution is that you move quickly from the cardio segments to abs, which usually means you have a very elevated heart rate when you lie down to do abs. For experienced exercisers, this probably poses little risk. But if you're new to exercise, I'd press the pause button after the cardio segments and walk around for a few seconds to bring your heart rate down, and then when you lie down to do abs, try to do so in a way that keeps your head elevated higher than your heart. I started doing all 3 workouts in rotation (Level 1 on the first day, Level 2 on the second, Level 3 on the third, and starting again at Level 1 on the fourth day). I'm a firm believer in keeping my muscles guessing what I'm going to throw at them! I hope Jillian comes out with more workouts in this format because there are many of us who need very short, very intense workouts!

This 30 day shred from jillian michaels really works. It is really good. But you have to do the 20 minutes without interruptions, because you want to get the most of it. In the beginning you will feel like a truck drove over you a couple of times, which is a good sign, but gradually you will get use to it. You will fell muscles that you did not know you even had. It is a workout full of sweat and results.

Before i bought this dvd i read all the reviews and thought wow this must work... let me begin by sayin i am 5 foot and 100 pounds. I am not worried about losing weight... although that would be great if i could lose even 5 pounds because i can not lose weight for anything... but more about toning i bought this. I used to go to the gym 5-6 days a week and do cardio for 2 hours and strength machines for an hour. Today i did this dvd and wow it seriously feels like i have just came home from the gym.... i will keep everyone updated on my progress to show that this works :)
